HEWLETT-PACKARD PhotoSmart - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
The printer takes a long time to print.
Buy a faster printer.
And, no, I'm not being a smart-aleck
HP rates this printer at up to 32 pages per minute -- in fast draft mode black ink only... But even their ratings show it takes over a minute per page when doing quality printing in color.
And those speed ratings are all "after first page" -- ALL printers take longer for the first page due to the time it takes for the computer to set up the page and process the information.
As the specs suggest, you can get faster printing in black-only instead of color and by choosing fast draft mode instead of quality or normal mode.
There is very little that could be wrong with the printer that would make it print slower than usual -- generally any problem would make it not print at all or cause it to print incorrectly. Generally speaking whatever speed you see is simply the speed of the printer itself based on the settings you have selected, the software you are using, and the speed of your computer.
You can refer to the information on the HP website. It is just possible that replacing the printer driver MIGHT help but other than that there simply isn't much you can do about the speed of this (or any) printer unless you want to choose a lower quality print setting.

Hp C309n blinking power light
The blinking light indicates there is a malfunction; such as paper jam, cartridge missing or ink cartridge caddy has a problem (ink on bottom, or dryed up, etc; caddy can be pulled out and cleaned), or something you were going to print was not printed due to low on ink, etc. It may show a number that you could contact H/P support, give them model of printer and the error number and they may be able to assist. Actually, blinking light could be a host of problems. Take cartridges out and carefully clean the brass contacts and also on the printer head, clean that too. Edwin, USN-Ret.
Photosmart c4780 all in one printer won't complete initialization when turned on.
Hello,
While the printer is ON, remove the cartridges and you may unplug the power cord from back of the printer.
Wait for 30 seconds.
Ensure the cartridges have ink in them ( atleast 25% ).
Plug in the power cord to the back of the printer. If printer does not power up, press the Power button on the printer to do so.
Initialization should complete.
If issue still persists, please call HP Tech Support for further assistance as the printer may require a service.
Unable to copy
Hello,
Please check the ink level in the cartridges before you start to make a copy. You may have to replace the cartridges which are depleted or have low level ink.
If cartridges have ink in them and if the printer is not making a COPY ( black or color ), then have the printer power cord directly plugged in to wall outlet ( bypass the surge / power strip ) and retry making a COPY.
If issue still persists, then you may have to call HP Tech Support for further assistance as the printer would require a service.

Hi Richard,There are few troubleshooting steps that you can perform to fix this issue. This issue is related to Printhead Failure ( that holds the cartridges )
1. Disconnect the Power cord from back of the printer ( printer must be power on when you do this )2. Wait for 10 seconds and plug the cable to Printer3. Wait for the printer screen to display the menu4. Try to print test page.Or Try the Step Below
This is easily fixed with the following key sequences. Press OK to clear7) press CANCEL8) press CANCEL9) press CANCEL10) turn printer off, unplug power cord for 2 minutes, plug cord back in then turn printer back on.NOTE: I did this and the fist time the error came back. Do the sequence again (as I did) and the error will be replaced with the usual print cartridge initialization screens. Print a test page to make sure.
