HP tells me it came with W7 64bit, tell me its not W10 now. the F11 key, that way, you need to tell how you did that. what method (there is not just one method) the F11 key full recover takes a good HDD, we do the hdd tests first. or its all just a waste of time. DV7 is old. so what do techs do old. 1: new coin cell, is yours 10 years old, and hopeless.....?????? 2: main battery out do not do what you did with the Main huge bad battery installed use only the AC power pack to run now. 3: vents clean if the PC overheats how can it reInstall OS ? cant. see slide show for LapTops. if packed it will overheat and fail.!!! http://pcdied.com/overheated.html 4; we test the HDD next using linux. (free if you have blank CD or Thumbdrive. do the smart tests then the full drive test. http://pcdied.com/linux.html 5: ok the HDD is bad, new HDD and buy new OS yours is gone. 6:ok HDD was good , but F11 is messed up only. if F11 is messed up that means the HDD was slammed. that means (alien OS installed or using wrong media, not from HP) If someone damaged the HP C:/recovery partition , then F11 is doomed. for sure. http://pcdied.com/slammed.html lets say you didnt buy the recover disk when new from HP and now HP does not sell them this old, yup they dont. see 9 ways to get the OS here. http://www.pcdied.com/HP-OS-GET.html last. lets say the OS is gone,or HDD bad or replaced and you bought a new OS install disk, say W7 then what,? well the HP drivers is what. or w7 will not have them all . here they are for free from your official HP support page https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-dv7-4100-entertainment-notebook-pc-series/4247665/model/4308420

I have hp elitebook 8440p

slow down, please, what cam?, the one in the top screen bezel or any of 1000 usb webcams/??? (where is your cam, i cant see it) the in bezel cam , can be more than one type, on even one HP PC, (series) so in there correct page for 8440p you then selected w7 the picked 32bit or 64bit , did you? the you see camera drivers, and there may be 2 or more, web camera, sp12345.exe files when you run one and it tells you wrong one, it is. its that simple. if you get the OS wrong, the camera wrong or the 32/64bit wrong it will fail. click control panel , then pick system right on that page it says 32bit or 64bit. i have a bunch of 8540w that all work with cam, even with w10-64 here ill click for you https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitebook-8440p-notebook-pc/4095872 i pick w7 and guess its 32bit. then I see what. i Click software multimedia and run this. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52437.exe shows as 32/64 bit both the camera inside can be. missing wires fell off. or dead. seen that many a time. from other service one, they sold it with no cam and with cam. some PC like this , the other owner puts in a new screen lacking a camera cuz its cheaper or only one he can find. see? so looking inside matters big time.

2009 PC, getting old, it's not a virus in the BIOS ROM, sorry but is not.! it had stinking XP on it, so the virus magnet did is it always does. XP has over 700 exploits, end rant, upgrade it . the way to trouble shoot any notebook or laptop is get the big battery out. first. unplug it. if BIOS asks ODD. or dead. then make sure the coin cell reads 2.9v to 3.3v, less is bad.' then BIOS works, seems it does, just someone set the silly PW. and is BIOS password locked HP has a fix for this PW lock, and secret unlock, see last link below. possibles. bad HDD , run linux boot disk test. can you boot to usb stick with F9 or is F9 bios locked wish I could see it , or you tell all things that work or not. if bios f9 key works must how would you get to Gparted, my guess is you did boot to LINUX media and ran Gparted. so that leaves what?. F11 is dead, recovery part, erased. RIP XP for ever, yea. the OS is dead,? but hdd dead makes OS dead. so... so run the linux disk test and smart test first. if that passes then and only now can load the OS from HP media. next buy a new OS and install it of HDD is ok if not , new HDD and new OS time. i use UBUNTU disk (is use a usb stick iso linux), then boot it and click LIVE UBUNTU. yah. and then run disk test. like here. http://www.pcdied.com/linux.html the Pw reset is here, the real HP is here the real deal ask them, https://h30434.www3.hp.com/ they ask for service tag data.!!!

How do i locate the hp probook 4520s BIOS password jumper on the motherboard

4520s. you failed because of one reason, you asked on fixya not HP' why ask here, there are no HP(few) folks here, they are all over at HP, real forum.? bios resets are tricky, the new rules changed with UEFI BIOS and or TPM chips added. back in 2007 the mobo had reset jumper, (mine desktop does) but not my 2008 elitebook laptop, due to the TPM rules. first the link to your books https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-ProBook-4520s-Notebook-PC/4145198 those cover most issues, you will have. all by HP direct, page 126 here is not too clear;. the answer is here your PC is fully locked now, there is no way to reset it . without HP direct intervention (fixya can never ever do that) the send you a special binary flash file that only works on YOUR PC (a fact and is by DESIGN) https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-Notebooks/Probook-4545s-Bios-Password-reset/m-p/6350164#M147169 never use a BIOS password, unless you write it down and hide the paper in a book you know, where it is. (got books?) i know books are now (dead technology but)>? if you guess and start flashing BIOS, you will BRICK THIS PC.

HP D7-1245DX Motherboard part number 506124-001 Power

I would first double-check the "known good" power supply. If there is something bad wrong with the MB, it could have blown the fuse in the power supply. I have seen very few fuses on motherboards, they are normally in the power supply. If the power supply checks out OK, then double check the connectors between the power supply and the MB.

ProBook 4420s shuts down randomly

so you are asking for a 3rd party, really? no OS stated, wow, must we guess that?windows what?BIOS test, or inside windows, if inside what way did you do that? tell how? running the extended memory diagnostics test.the mem test fails.there are many ways for that to fail.but if the BIOS memory test fails, gee say so. say BIOS. if in windows, and it's corrputed why in the world run mem test in any corrupted OS? as XP surely is.BIOS RAM TEST: (tossed the big coin there, lands BIOS)then the ram is failingcaused by.1; Bad ram. take them all out and test them 1 by 1.2: wrong ram, used, very common on old PCs3: the power supples to the ram are weak.4: there are modules on the mobo that can be shorted causes effect #3 above, strip the PC down to just nill and test. cd out, hdd out, all extry ram out. modem card out, wifi card out, all moduels out but CPU and 1 stick of ram.pass mem test now?, if not, the mobo is dead.one needs one known good ram stick to prove this.see why? many are not for sure used or from old systems.may makers of ram do not make ram for old computers now.making repairs hard.the RAM needs to match 1 of 6 CPUthe fast one isIntel Core i7-620M Processor it must be 620m compatible and for speed.Upgradeable to 8192MB with 4096MB SODIMMs in slots 1 and 2to use full size windows 64bit must be used.buy 1gb stick and test with that, first.cheap stick fast test.ddr3204pin PC3-10600(i have no idea at all what processor is there)so.... i go worst case for you.a cheap test memory (if your pc lacks 2 sticks)is here or at amazon for $5https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=PC3-10600++ddr3%2C++204pin+1gb&_sop=15

old DV5-2125 (circa 2010 carbon dated, IIRC) its bad? the port. or. do tests. tests solve problems. try it on 2 TV's yet, be smart. is this windows 7 (or dead XP./vista) or w10, i cant guess that. did you use a real HP driver, from HP and not virus sites? (endless) HDMI is just in front of eSata port. do not mix those. (working in dark) try new cable.? load the real drivers seen here? only these work. shipped windows 7, is it still W7 or w8 or w10 last year did you upgrade to W10, gee, be like question1. this pc had intel or amd drivers, new. only the correct one works. learn too that underlaying drivers can fail killing this too. hint load them all , and do not mess with FLASHING BIOS !! this PC is like 2 PCs, totally different, getting the correct driver is not easy,. HP can guide you, but you picked fixha, why here> https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-dv5-2100-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/4210545 here is real HP, ask them how to match drivers. sometime even the full service tag must be told to them to get a match up, (For sure Intel, AMD , classed mobo variances.) https://h30434.www3.hp.com/

Hp mini 210-1041nr does not boot up. Keeps looping at startup to did not start successfully

Teaching complex computer topics in text box will never be short.) PC has vast POINTS OF FAILURE< it was an airplane it be crashed long ago and turned into beer cans. there are only 2 paths, to any new OS. (HP media kit or F11) (the HDD must be good. first) no OS stated, why post not saying what OS is here ,XP? the ESC key does it work>? guess yes. this is first test. of all modern HP puters. power on, (hammer , the ESC key) as the screen tells you do do in white text... see that>? IF BIOS is alive and the battery inside is not shorted (take it out) then the F11 key works if someone (the bad guy) installed, a newer or same OS from a microsoft disk , (NOT HP) then not the PC is slammed. the F11 is dead. F11 is the hidden HP restore PARTITION. here are the tests. in the correct order. on all ; PC , ill post them now. (modern HP only) 1: does BIOS work? Esc key , F2, F9, f10 , f11, ) all BIOS keys most respond at power on, if not the battery is shorted. remove it and continue. (end LT horror 1) 2: screen works , bios works, all bios keyswork even F11 tries to work but does not get to the blue restore pages.... 3: if all the above, seems to work but only F11 fails that means 1 of 2 things, the HDD id dead, or the HDD was corrupted. 4: at this point we boot to good old and FREE, Knoppix,V7 media. we boot it and do the HDD tests NOW, be a waste of time loadning ANY OS on any bad HDD now, totally time waster to extremes..... here is how to do that. easy. l Click linux start button , yah just like windoz then type disk, or find it in there. run DISK this is disk testing. see the SMART menu , if the smart data shows unrecoverable sectors, the HDD is TOASTED, its END OF LIFE. A FACT. if the disk test fails, the HDD is toasted worse. http://www.pcdied.com/brick-dead.html#Knoppix Ok knoppix boots, if not the PC is far far sicker than you think,. ok this works ok. the OS on your PC is wrecked. so load it. if F11 is dead, that means the HP restore partition is wrecked. corrupted. as can happen using NON HP restore disks (media) the correct path now is here. the HP offical Medial kit from HP, we are not HP we are chat box fixya. (nobody!) https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143 F11 may take you here on any 2006 or newer HP PC the F11 key runs the HP Recovery partition, installer setup prog. and land here, on a new PC or any not slammed, with wrong OS. restore-f11-da0cv3s1i5gku1eufa4qjtra-4-0.jpg power on, hammer, F11, F11.,f11, from 1 second to 5 sec. repeat power on if F11 did not respond. power off first. the newer the PC the more choices here.
