Hi - I have been searching all over for that particular ornament. My parents had it when I was a kid, and I wanted to get them one for Christmas this year. Do you know anything about the model or year it was made? I want to try and find one on eBay.

Old question, but in case anyone else has the same problem, it is because you are not in an area that is well lit enough. Light has to enter into the right number of holes so the photocell 'knows' which page you are on. Make sure to review all the pages from the start as well because if the right page is not recognized, you can end up with your voice not matching the text.

I have the same problem. did you ever find a fix? Also, i noticed that people have actually sold a few of these broken ones on Ebay, thus i'm thinking someone has figured out a way to fix it

I had the same problem with another Hallmark recordable book and figured out it had to do with where the light was coming from when I was turning the pages. When I moved it worked correctly.

I just read on the Internet that you have to hold the button down for 4 seconds to put it into continuous play mode. There will be approximately 4 minutes (or more, perhaps) between songs when it is in continuous play mode. I read that many people thought continuous play mode didn't work because they didn't know they had to wait so long in between songs.
