Our elementary school has this

Generally, you want 3 oz. of corn to one 1oz of oil. The amount of corn you can put in the kettle depends on the size of the kettle. So take the kettle size, (I think that machine is an 8 oz popper) and divide 8 by three to get 2.66 oz. (about a third of a cup) of oil needed. So you would use 1 cup of corn, and a third cup of oil.

How do you tell what year your Gold Medal popcorn machine was manufactured?

I don't have one. If I did I would look for a tag that had a serial number, and then contact the manufacturer and ask them.

Trying to find kettle wiring drawing 3255

To order a manual from the factory the part# is 67834. Depending on how old this is , those kettles and or similar design had a issue with the nut comming loose that holds down the thermostat thight to the bottom of the pan. The loose nut would then bounce around in there until it touches a elect.connection and ground at the same time. It will short circuit the kettle and end up welding itself in place . so when you turn the kettle on it trips the circuit rite away. you have to dissasemble it and remove it . there is a new locking type nut avalible to replace it.

New kettle for the gay 902 whiz bang popper

Yes you can purchase new kettles complete or just the bottom half most of the time with the gold medal brand. When you see the prices you may want to consider repairing or rebuilding it. That's what I do unless there are so many parst needed that a new one would make more sense because I believe you will get a warranty with the complete kettle?

Kernels wont pop compleatly

The kettle temp is not getting hot enough so your seeds dry out and have no moisture left to pop. Very stale corn seed will give you similar results.

Popcorn burns

If the corn/ oil ratio is correct , check the thermostat operation . It is burning because it's in there too long from lack of heat to make it pop.

Why is it taking a long time to start popping, not popping completely, and leaving excess oil?

Sounds like the kettle isn't getting hot enough. The thermostat is usually at fault in this situation which can be determined by checking the amp draw on the kettle. the common complaint is the kette is too hot and burning but what really is going on is it's not hot enough so the seed won't pop. Because of the heat that is there it will loose it's moisture, dry out and burn instead. You will end up with lots of old maids . Really stale corn seed will act the same way because all the moisture in it is gone and thats what is needed to pop it.

I have a 2085cl and it now produces a funny taste on my popcorn, what can I do to fix this?

If you are using chemicals to clean the kettle, that is what you are tasting. You should only use recommended kettle cleaeners like Heatn Kleen, or Kleen Sweep from a popcorn distributor. Other cleaners will absorb into the carbon build up, and transfer a fowl taste. Old vegetable oil build up can also turn rancid over time and create a bad smell and taste.

I have a Fun time 2408 machine we ended up using different pre made popcorn bags and oil 4 6 and 12 and were just now realizing that weve been using the wrong oz,s and when we do it make crappy pop co

You can clip the corner of the popcorn section and shake the salt into a small bowl, then cut just the corn section into another bowl, and hand measure the ingredients. The Funpop 8 works best with 2oz (1/4 cup) oil, 8oz (1 cup) popcorn, and 1 teaspoon of salt.

Popcorn maker worked great for a matinee then for the evening show the kettle no longer heated up

Your kettle has had a ground fault, and damaged the switch in the process. Do not Continue to Try and use. Take the kettle to a gold medal dealer, and replace the switch in the cabinet.

Is there a reset switch after you change filters

If you are speaking about poppers with a Popclean feature, there is not a reset switch. There is a sensor that looks for air movement volume, when the air "vacuum" is weak it sets off the change filter light.

Kettle motor wont come on and light wont come on

Check that the wall outlet is good by plugging something else into it. Plug the pop corn device into the outlet. Bend the power cord at both ends to see if the unit lights up. If not, you may have a bad connection inside or a bad switch. There also may be a blown fuse inside you could replace.

Why is my gold medal popcorn model # 2552 machine not heating to pop popcorn anymore?

A kettle not heating is either a switch, kettle wires, thermostat, or kettle heater. Check that the kettle is plugged in tight, notice if the switch lights up when switched, then contact your local gold medal dealer for repairs. It is always cheaper to repair a gold medal kettle than replace. http://www.gmpopcorn.com/domestic-dealers.cfm

Would like to check the Gold Medal thermostats in my model #2003 machine. The 550f for 12, 14, 16oz kettles p/n 47082. Do they check good with a resistance value? And do you know what they should m

You can test it for continuity. Remove from the circuit, set your meter to highest Rx value. Using heat gun, hair dryer on high or candle heat the t/stat. At some point it will click on/off depending on type. If its a NO it will click on, then off on removal of heat, if its a NC it will click off then on, with removal of heat. Many times the trip temp is printed on the body.
