HOW TO STAIN TREATED LUMBER ?
To stain decks or other projects made of treated lumber, it has to be at least one year old, to allow the moisture from the treatment process to dry out. It the deck is already older than one year, then wash it with a deck cleaner, rinsing well. Give it a couple days to dry out entirely, then you are free to stain according to your stain manufactures instructions.
How do you open the Spray Tank to clean ?
Is the pump handle slid all the way down and locked into the top? If so, you should just be able to turn it counter clockwise and unscrew the top. Though if it has been sitting for a long period of time, the seal may have swelled or the plastics deteriorated. This may make it more difficult to unscrew. Also make sure there isn't any pressure in it.
Pump wont suction. Handle snaps back when pulled up
Top has a lock shaped like an X. It is difficult to turn but once the small protrusions at end of each arm of X snap out of locking holes the pump handle can be removed and the O-ring that produces the seal can be replaced into the grooved seat it fell off. To help keep it from happening again, just spray some water into the space around the handle shaft when the pumping action seems a bit strained due to the O-ring drying out.
The plastic nut brok off were the arm throw water out
I had the same thing. I lopped off the other one with a hacksaw, drilled and tapped it 1/4 NPT pipe thread, ran the same tap down the alum arms and reassembled with short close nipples 1/4NPT pipe. Used brass close nipples. Works now.
I have a gilmour xp30.
there is an O-ring in the plunger tube that can slip of its channel seating if it becomes dried out. To put it back you need to disassemble the handle from unit. At base of handle is a lock that looks like a cross. It is difficult to turn because it has small protrusions at the ends that snap into holes in the collar. Once you turn them and the pop out the handle can be removed exposing the pump shaft. The O-ring is probably what you hear rattling and will be loose in bottom of tube. Just put it back into its grooved seat, slide plunger back into unit, rotate the x-lock till it snaps back into place and unit should work again. I have oiled o-ring but that did not last long and might get oil on plants. I now just spray some water down the top to lubricate the O-ring when it seems dry.
