Garmin gwind race transducer. Can it be ohmed out ?

All transducers should read 0 ohms or close to it. If not you most likely have a broken pin in the connector or wire.

Hi, i have a garmin 820xsgpsmap in my boat and i recently put a blackbox in with a downvu, sidevu tranducer on transom and when useing the unit it dosnt have the option of useing sidvu. Why is this?

I can't remember correct setup but make sure that box is powered and connected to GPS in right input. With no power to box it won't be discovered by head unit.

I have just hooked up

You will have to leave it on for a while to sync up with the satellites. Once it settles in it will always find your location quickly unless you leave it off for a long period or move it a long distance since you turned it off. My Garmin 421s works perfect but sonar goes off with notification that the tranducer is off. A tap on the case would partly restore service. What is the cause of this failure?

Short in system. if in warranty send to manufacturer. If not open the case and see if any components and wiring are damaged or wire came lose from mother board.

How to solve sonar failure(Showing on Display) in garmin 160c fishfinder.

I would guess that "sonar failure" would mean that no signal is being received from the transducer. Trouble shoot accordingly.

Garmin fishfinder 160c sonar failure

Hi Lakshmaan: The first thing I would check would be the electrical connections from the transducer, and the transducer wire.

Depth not detected

I'd start by checking the transducer function. The easiest way is to borrow another one and see if it works. If it does, and yours doesn't, check for broken wires.

It has suddenly died. I have no sign of power at the power cable end. One question though, how many pin contacts are there on the cable plug end? I have 2 there & the Garmin unit has 4 female sockets.

You lost your power wires + & - or blown a fuse. The other two are the transducer connections.
