The E138 error is to do with the keypad you use to work the microwave. The keypad is faulty and will probably need replacing.

Our upper oven lock motor has failed. Gaggenau/Bosch indicates no part is available. The lower electric lock appears to be available. Will it work on the top oven? Is there a way to bypass the lock so the oven functions?

The manual says the top oven is heated by the broil element ($168.00), but it lies as the fan also has an element around it (not available!). The bottom oven element is a secret, but my guess is that it is around the fan in the rear and the parts list confirms. Both can be checked with a test meter. Gaggenau ovens are the best until they begin to fail. Then, they are the most expensive ovens to repair in the business. Sounds like you either need a new gaggenau, or perhaps it is a newfangled model that is so efficient it just stays hot for up to several weeks, thus reducing preheating times.
