MR-8. How can I hard reset?

Generally, a hard reset is initiated by pressing a dedicated reset button, or holding a combination of buttons on some mobile devices. Devices may not have a dedicated Reset button, but have the user hold the power button to cut power, which the user can then turn the computer back on.

Fostex mr 16 digital multitracker, Power button has pushed bin and can not turn recorder on

First, check the fuse. You may need a magnifying glass or an ohmmeter to check it. If the fuse is bad, replace it. If the fuse is OK,or you've replaced it, I'd suggest you take it to a pro audio service center for repair. This sounds like either a major power supply problem, or a shorted component, anywhere in the unit. It may not be cheap, but get a repair estimate so you can decide if it is worth repairing.

Hi, I own a Fostex VM04 digital mixer.Everything works fine except for some reason the FX just won't work anymore.Any help to fix this would be appreciated.

If you've set it up correctly and FX still don't work, unless you want to keep using it as-is, I'd suggest looking for a used replacement on Ebay etc. They sell for under $70, and although I doubt these can be repaired, it wouldn't be worth it anyway.

My Fostex mr8 hdd "full"

If you can reformat the drive after dumping out anything you want saved MIGHT fix the problem...

The unit MAY not be able to tolerate fragmenting when you delete a snippet here and there... It may require large blocks of contiguous space.

How can i get the rear panel off my Fostex monitor speaker. I have removed all 10 outer screws from the back panel, but still rock solid and can't remove. Any ideas on how I can get in to it please.

if any of the front speakers can be removed from the outside of the cabinet, you may be able to push the cabinet back off by going in the front.

When I play back a burned cd I'm losing the last 30 seconds or so. It's all there on the hard drive but not on the cd. Any answers?

There may be a problem on the hard drive.Try to reformat, or check/test it (on PC) with softwares tools for harddisk. Backup the data before reformat.

Bounced trks 3&4 to 7&8 clicked on wav file button canceled says out of capacity

You have a memory problem. If you are using a flash card for memory or a CD drive or perhaps you have configured an external drive, you need to free up some space. Try deleting tracks or songs you don't need anymore. Each song is independent on a CompactFlash without affecting other songs. You can give a desired song name for managing recorded songs (see pages 23 and 91). Recorded track data is stored in a song as mono WAV files. The MR-8mkII can convert the two WAV files recorded on tracks 7 and 8 (L and R) to a stereo WAV file (see page 115). You can export the converted stereo WAV file to your USB-connected personal computer, and use the file by a music software application or make an original audio CD on the computer using a CD burn software application. You can also burn an audio CD by using an external CD-R/RW drive connected via the [USB HOST] port of the MR-8mkII (see page 115 and 123) Fostex MR 8MKII Owner Manual Page 73 Fostex MR 8MKII Owner Manual Exporting Data To Personal Computer... Are you using the auto delete feature? Get rid of data you don't need here: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/53326/Fostex-Mr-8mkii.html?page=135#manual

Looking for a manual for a Fostex FD8

Look here: http://www.fostexinternational.com/docs/tech_support/manuals.shtml for the link to download the user manual. For FD-8 there are links to PDF for owner's manual, supplement, and quick guide. I assume the owner's manual is what you seek.

How can I record my songs to my tablet or my laptop

The best way is to use the USB output from the Fostex. Connect the USB cable from the Fostex to the USB input of the notebook. A Windows computer should show a USB Audio Device in the device manager. If not, you'll have to get a driver from Fostex and install that. But it should just work, it did in my Vista notebook. Then simply get any number of recording software packages (Windows 8 may have a built-in app). I've used Cool Edit and Reason 4 for recording and editing. You should not record the songs using the notebook's microphone input because (1) the analog noise of a recording generated by the notebook's A-D converter is horrible, and (2) you'll have level and impedance matching problems, even after purchasing something like a pair of Bogen WMT1A line matching transformers. Once you've got it recorded, put it in the cloud and download it onto your tablet. I don't think tablets have USB ports, but maybe yours does.

Why does my mixer take so long to select something from the menu and why does it freeze up?

Sounds like you need more ram or computer space. You didn't list what time of mixer or computer so can only answer basicly. If using a computer (which it sounds like) see how much the mixer needs andhow much space available on your hard drive. This is called a latency problem. Basicaly how long does it take for the computer to respond to commands while it is doing a task. either get a bigger hard drive and more ram or clear out some files on your computer. You can also go into settings and change the settings. You'll have to look through the manual on latency problems.

How do you uninstall and reinstall the drivers on my Fostex MR-8 HD/CD Digital Multitracker?

I don't remember telling you to do this...have you checked out google, or youtube?? There is a vast amount of free info on these sites....it is worth checking out....these digital recorders come with their own operating system...you must be talking about a factory reset....That should be in the owners manual....

I can only hear static through the headphones on my Fostex MR16. The recording sounds fine when I transfer to computer, but I can't hear myself playing.

They make headphone amps that will take a line level and boost it in volume until it can drive headphones. I'd get one of those, and plug it into any available "line out" or "rec out" on the back of your Fostex. Sounds like the D/A converter section that feeds the headphone output has gone bad, and my solution will get you around that.

Fostex LR-16 has locked up!

Does it come up with DRIVE INIT or does it go straight to please wait???I had a problem like this when i didnt eject the media properly from my PC. It would not turn off and just said please wait..... until finally i switched it off waited 5mins then turned it back on. If you can get your PC/MAC to see the drive you should delet the file you uploaded. Did you put the stereo file in the "2mix" folder of directly into the project folder?? To be honest The Fostex LR16 is a pain in the ****!!!

I refcently purchased a MR16 Fostex it comes on lights up and shuts down . What is possibly wrong ?

Power supply. Most likely an electrolytic is failing. It may or may not show any signs of it. Other possibilities are bad solder connections, loose wire connections, or possibly a bad MOSFET if it uses a switchmode power supply. Also check the general construction to make sure nothing is shorting internally. Sometimes wires get pinched.
