IF you can find the number but can't read it head-on, get a bright flashlite and shine it across the SN sideways close to the metal kind of glancing and see if it shows up. The bad news is 9N designates a model between 1939-1942. No definite year is usually assigned to these Ford tractors. Here's an article explaining it all. It's pretty interesting. if you have a way to test OHM , a 6 volt coil should be around 1.5 ohm and a 12 volt would need to measure around 3.0 ohm..Don't know how accurate , but it should give you some indication

Make sure you have proper polarity on battery.

Either you damaged something in the drive or the motor spline.

Check timing because chance that you put it back in exactly the same location as before is remote and timing is critical to performance of engine.

Hey Roy, maybe its time for a qualified professional to take a look at it... was the "rebuild kit" a factory or "aftermarket"... sounds like you are using the same method I use when I have a "difficult" carb... you can "polish" the seat with a long wooden swab..(I buy mine by the box at my local pharmacy)... just take the swab and push down into the seat and twist until you are satisfied its smooth and burr free... .. (I do this to the ones I clean).. sometimes I use a TINY amount of 1200 grit polishing compound BUT ITS HARD TO CLEAN OUT THE EXCESS COMPOUND.... but it helps the seat.. ...make sure the needle's seating area is clean and burr, nick, groove free. ....

they were made from 1982 to 1993

check the compression. it may just be a blown head gasket or a push rod may have broke or bent. possible a stuck valve or valve seat. if the engine still spins over by hand it should be a easy fix. and a cheap fix also if you do it yourself. it will require a few special tools and valve grinding compound but there are videos on you tube that show how to do this.

How old is the battery? Would it be you need a new carburetor?

Did you press the clutch while trying to engage the pto?

you may want to test the solenoid. sounds like it may be bad.

no your information is to vague --when you get serial number or vin do online search should be able to find answer

check clutch adjustment pulling stumps requires savage clutch operations so you make have damaged the clutch plates check also that the ratio lever is fully engaged and that it has not gone to neutral position
