Check the internal fuse - usually there for amperage readings.

try checking connection of battery terminals to main board (you may need to bend them a little to make sure they touch main board once closed).

Error 1 is an indication that the self test has failed. This will require repair at an authorized Fluke service center. There is an internal problem with the meter. The only thing that you can try is to replace the internal battery. Should the battery be defective, the internal testing can be effected. I have only seen this occur once, but it is worth the attempt. Should a new battery not fix the problem, return the meter to Fluke for repair.
