My mini moto dirt bike has a brand new engine in it, the bike will start and tick over for a short while then when you rev it, it cuts out can anyone help?

Check the spark plug first, for carbon, wet. For the time being, use one step hotter plug to guard against fouling. 2 smoke motors when run at lower speeds tend to be easier to foul a plug.

My lifan lifan scooter won't kick over or start but the starter motor still turns I'm not sure what the problem is

It is difficult to answer your question as without further details there is nothing that points to the problem. I will give you these tips and then you should do some investigation of the problem! First thing to always remember is; always make a good mechanical inspection to ensure that nothing is broken or disconnected etc. Then: Check that there is fuel in the line by disconnecting the fuel line if necessary. Remove a spark plug and rest it (connected) on the cylinder head, look for a spark when you turn the motor over. if all seems OK with the forgoing tests then turn the motor over by hand using the flywheel. (turn slowly, you may have to remove a protective cover.) feel if the motor has reasonable compression. Notes: Obviously if the fuel line is blocked you will need to find out why and clear it. Does the automatic fuel pump device operate? Does fuel come out of the carburetor float chamber drain hole? If you have no spark, then you will need to establisth why there is no spark. Is the ignition switch in the correct position? Is the spark plug clean with approximately the correct spark gap? If you follow the above procedure, you should soon find out the area that is causing your problem. If you are reasonably mechanically minded then buy a workshop manual for your machine, that will describe how to find and disassemble the various parts of your machine. There is no magic answer to a machine that will not start, so if you are not mechanically minded it may be you will need to call a local mechanic to help! My words above are general to any motor that has starting problems, I do not have personal knowledge of your machine and so I cannot go into finite details!

How to change the spark

i'm not sure what kind of bike your working on but here we go, older sports bikes and in line motors:the best thing to do here is remove the body (if it has one) sometimes you can get the socket in without removing the gas tank. best if you do tho it WILL make it easier.New sport bikes: start with the seat remove it then the tank now the airbox, after you have all this apart you should be able to get into the spark plug caps. Be careful here because most of the new bikes use a cap the also acts like the coil, it will have a plug with two wires remove that from the cap and remove the cap from the motor. take your time do one at a time and put it back together they the you took it apart. v twin bikes like harlys and bikes that look like then will have the spark plugs on the side of the motor sometimes under covers that may pull off or have screws. World of powersports is a site that shows micro phish. this is a part break down that you can use to find part numbers and where things are at in the bike.
Good luck my friend

When you put it in

There are a couple of stripped gears in the transmission. The case will need to be split to locate and replace the bad gears. Be sure to replace not only the stripped gear(s) but also replace any gears that the gear teeth mesh with. Even if they look okay, they were exposed to the same punishment as the stripped gear. If you din't replace the "good" gears you get to do the repair twice in just a short time. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_57.gif

Hi, my scooters steering has

Be sure the front axle net is tight. Next, check the center nut on the steering stem. It attaches to the stem and will have a lock nut on top of it, (green highlight). The bearing nut, (blue highlight), should be snug against the stem bearing. Too tight and the steering is stiff. Too loose and the steering is squirrelly. Note; the bearing may have gone bad. If so, replace it. Once the bearing nut is set, lock it down with the lock nut. The image below is generic. tombones49_6.gif
