Unit will not power up just displays E1 Any tips to get this working again.

Not sure what kind of unit you have. Try turning off the main power/unplug it. Wait 5-10 mins and then restore power. E1 is an error code but w/o more info I can't tell what it means. If you have the make/model #? Or the owners manual should tell you.

Everstar MPK-10CR compressor keeps running after power off, on remote. Display blanks. Only shuts off when O/L @ wall plug tripped.

call in an electrician as there is a problem in the circuit allowing power from a neutral line and bypassing the switch

It was flashing red like the water was full. I emptied the water, put the container back in and it was still flashing. I tried to shut it off, but it wouldn't shut down.

When you unplugged it you broken the circuit which is what it does when pan is full of water to get you by turn the two wires together to make it think the switch is made

Unit will not power on. Green light on the power cord indicates it is getting power. also tried different receptacles.

If you noticed an electrical smell (like something was overheating), you may have a compressor lockup, or a fan lock. If you know a good, and knowledgeable handyman, he should be able to troubleshoot the unit quickly. But if it is the compressor, repairs could cost as much as a new unit.

Is the vent hose on this unit supposed to get really hot?

yes it is normal . most of these have a flexable metal tube that vents them , you can use a dryer vent tube but it will get hot and even melt a little these units do not have a long service life so don't waste your money on factory replacement parts , just use the way you are till it's used up.

I cleaned filter still black stuff blows out it feel like foam filter is not foamthatiwash

Order a filter replacement... Your filter sounds as though it's so old that it's disintigrating and bits of it are being pulled into the evaporator coil which in turn reduces the efficiency of the coil...

The unit squeaks whenever turned on, no matter what level the fan is blowing (Lo, Med, or Hi). Started about a week and a half ago.

A rhythmic squeak sounds like either a fan motor bearing going bad or just vibration from the unit running thats wiggling something loose inside the unit.

Water leaking

Water can fall off of coil prematurely, before it reaches the drain pan, sometimes due to debris on the coil surface, airflow turbulence in the return air box, and in some instances I've never resolved until the machine was replaced. The drain pan could be cracked or have blocked channels that allow water to drain from the rear to the front. It could also have ice on it/freezing up. Some will developed a thin sheet of ice and drip water. The drain line may be stopped up or broken/loose fitting. Some coils have a laminate on the aluminum fins that can deteriorate. Hope this gives you something to check!
