Electrolux Freezers - Popular Questions, Answers, Tips & Manuals

I have an Electrolux upright freezer glfh21f8hwb. It runs for about 3 days, then shuts off and displays error code OF and shuts off. If I reset it with the temp control, it starts again and freezes, but shuts off again in a few days. I just replaced the controller and capacitor with OEM Electrolux parts because it wasn't working at all. With those new parts, it started working again, but now I am getting the OF code. Please advise.

Sorry but I know nothing of the new-fangled fridges and freezers with their codes, but what does tend to stop an appliance that otherwise works well is a lack of cooling air around the motor/compressor unit and when the unit works harder during the summer or in the depths of winter when the heating is full on the thermal protection can cut power to the unit. Cleaning dust and fluff, ensuring all the power connections are clean and tight and not generating heat and ensuring there is adequate air space between the wall and the unit.

I defrosted my Electrolux intuition chest freezer yesterday and the red warning triangle on the lid won't stop flashing now. Why?

Check the temperature inside the freezer, chances are it just is letting you know it hasn't reached the correct temperature yet.

Electrolux door alarm Won't stop. We open door to turn off alarm. Temp seems right but slight condensation at the very top of the fridge. Need to at least disable alarm until I can get a repair.

Check the back wall of the freezer, I would suspect the beginnings of or a full-on defrost failure... If there is frost on the back wall of the freezer it means the evaporator is blocked, disallowing airflow to the fridge compartment... Electrolux Refrigerator Defrost Thermostat 216731001 . If there is no blockage, but temps are still not cold enough, your Frigidaire may be leaking refrigerant...

Hello,I defrosted my electrolux chest freezer and now problem is power is on but not freezing, alarm light keeps coming and keeps bleeping every 2 minutes and goes off and on

Is the compressor running? if it is running, but there is no cooling, it is time to buy a new freezer. If the compressor is NOT running, I would suspect the compressor start relay. How did you defrost it?

Where is the water tube to see if its frozen FGHB2844LF5 dbl door bottom frezzer

Hello Wally, thanks for your post! Based off the information you have provided you would like to know the location of the water line inside of your Frigidaire refrigerator. The water line is located within the wall of your refrigerator it is not accessible. The best way to clear out a frozen water line is to disconnect power from the refrigerator for at least two to three hours. This will help defrost any ice build-up within the refrigerator. I hope this information is helpful to you. -Matt

Ice will make and almost overflow and then freezes up at cutter. Who can I call to repair?

Hello Lisa; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. It sounds like you have a broken wire in your cutter. This is a easy part to replace. You have an electrical connector and some screws to remove. If I were still working for , "Sears Home Services", with part I would be charging you about $300.00 -$350.00 for a repair that you can do yourself. Go into the following website. Plug in your model number. Get the part number, then search the internet for bet price. You can repair this. Water Filters Lawn Garden Appliance Parts

The top two shelves are not freezing and the food on those shelves and that area of the door have defrosted. The bottom seems to be freezing. I can hear the fan running and do not feel any drafts from

Obviously that freezer is not achieved the required temperature. There are several reasons for that: - Defrosting system is not working, which leads to accumulation too much ice on the evaporator that prevents heat transfer and reduces air circulation despite the fan is running. - The problem with draining condensate after defrosting cycle which also leads to accumulation of ice. - Leaking gas from the cooling system (reduced cooling capacity) - Faulty compressor Dado

Ice freezing up on the evaporator

If the unit is equipped with 'auto-defrost' the defrost heater or its timer has failed. Another possibility is a bad door seal.

Why does oil leak at the bottom of the Gibson refrigerator door

Hello Susan; My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician. You do not have any oil in your system with the exception of a few ounces in the bottom of your compressor. This is not your problem. You have a water leak. The water will run across the bottom coils and the floor. By the time it reaches the front of your unit it looks oily. Pull you unit out. Make sure you raise the leveling screws in the front first. Remove the lower back cover. There are a few screws holing it on. 1.) Inspect the drain pan. Is it leaking? 2.) Inspect the water shut off valve. Is it leaking. 3.) Inspect the plastic tubing to your water filter, ice maker and water dispenser. Plastic tubing will dry rot and crack over time due to the heat. 4.) Have someone press your water dispenser while you observe for leaks in the back.

Electrolux FFU14F5HWB has intermittent defrost issues

Thank you for your post friend.

I understand that you are having intermittent defrost issues with your Frigidaire refrigerator. Are you experiencing an accumulation of ice buildup, are you losing food? Defrost issues can be caused by a variety of things such as a defective defrost heater, thermostat or defective door gasket. I recommend that you visually inspect the door gasket for defects such as gaps or tears. You can also use a dollar bill to test the door gasket. Place a dollar bill in between the door and the body of the freezer. If the dollar bill pulls out with no to little resistance, you may need to replace the door gasket. A faulty door gasket can allow warm air to enter the compartment and cause frost to buildup.

If there is a miscommunication within your freezer, a reset can possibly correct this issue. I recommend that you reset your refrigerator by unplugging it for 10 minutes. I hope this information has been helpful. -NS

How to set temperature on built-in freezer that is not part of a fridge

Well start by defrosting it. Empty out the contents and put the contents in a cooler and then switch it off. You may need to switch it off at the electrical control panel by flipping the circuit breaker. Once you have turned it off, use hot water to help remove the ice. Have plenty of old towels around for this as water will get spilled on the floor. Once it is empty and the ice removed you may discover a temperature control switch, but if not, just be prepared to repeat the exercise every 6 months or so. In any case it is not a good idea to run the freezer when it is iced up. Once it is emptied and cleared out switch it back on and wait 10 minutes before adding your stuff back. Sometimes freezers will heat up a bit before they cool down. Once you verify its getting cold, put your food back in it. Good luck.....RD

Cold air is blowing out from behind the fridge on the ice maker side of my french door styl fridge. Is this normal

Good Afternoon Sharon Poirier, thank you for your post! I understand that cold air is blowing from behind your Electrolux refrigerator on the side your icemaker is on. From what you are describing it sounds like a loose seal or missing plug. I would recommend having a professional technician out to your home to thoroughly look over your refrigerator. This will help to avoid any unnecessary part purchases. Hope this is helpful. -Matt

Re lights lit on freezer

Red light lit on freezer means that is not reaches operating temperature. Most often the old freezer has three indicator lights. - Green light : that it is brought to a power source and turned on - Red light : means that the temperature is above -18 degrees - orange light : pressing the so-called SUPER-switch which means that the compressor is running continuously. The SUPER-button switch on a few hours before you begin deep-freeze foods. Freezing time depending on foods quantity (kg). With old freezer must be careful to turn off the switch S (orange light) when the red light goes out or when foods are frozen, otherwise after a few days may burn out the compressor. You should be following the instructions from user manual. In new freezer managed by the electronics, this function has a predetermined maximum duration, in order to protect the compressor, and can have different marketing names like "shopping"..... Dado
