I can't find any details or even a picture of the rear panel but if it has a digital input attach the source of that HBO movie (cable/sat box) digitally to the Durabrand just as you would any other digital source.

Question edited for clarity. Durabrand is a bargain basement brand as an own label electronics supplier for Walmart and Asda in the UK. They are made in Turkey and China and there is little to no support. According to the user manual you should be able to clear the code by unplugging the TV and wait about 30 minutes.

Are you using the correct format disc.If you are playing a blu ray disc in a non blu ray player the player will not read the disc

In my experience on modern TV's they do not have stereo audio output sockets any more. You might be mistaking them for some other sockets, used to connect video cameras or projectors. The only sound outputs would either be the optical or HDMI connectors on the TV.

This thing is ancient now. They were for sale in 2003 to 2004 in Walmart for about $50. I owned a couple of these. They are complete junk head not worth bothering with since they do quit working after some time. Hard bump in the road breaks these often. This does not have the feature of using buttons for tuning in stations. Its a turn dial style unit. The radio puts out about 13 watts into each channel. Does have RCA preouts and its a basic CD player that can read CD-R discs. Nothing fancy like MP3 playback or WMA playback which was coming out about that time.

It is a DVD player and VHS recorder.

What might be happening is a misread of the disk or a buffer error, these happen often, and can be fixed sometimes by cleaning the lens, cleaning and relubricating the guide rails and making sure the rubber bumper gromets are not worn down. Now these are all of the mechanical things you can do. Have you recently used headphones in this device? I have a portable DVD player that had a similar problem. It thought that headphones were plugged in and that turned the sound in the external speakers off. If i plugged in headphones the sound worked in them. So I jiggled the headphone plug in while in the jack and removed it and the sound came back on.

is it from the tv no sound coming it mabe be due to faulty cable or due to the wrong connection to the tv do check the Manuel for the connection there is no problem with the dvd player

try a differnt dvd... cos may be the sound format in the dvd disc is not supported by the player... try a mp3 player.. to see if sounds available..
