Does a dremel 400 xpr have a fuse? I have hardly ever used mine, but followed instructions for checking brushes, ran it to seat the brushes and now it won't start.
I don't know if it has a fuse - I know little about the Dremel brand but I have had some experience of similar other brand tools. The electronics seem less than completely reliable being physically too small for the job of speed regulation, torque compensation, radio interference suppression, etc. - everything is crammed into a tiny space and the circuit board is typically on the cheap and nasty side. If there is a fuse it would typically be found on the circuit board.
Mostly the failure of such tools, in my experience, is caused by the electronics though nothing can be ruled out.
I suggest you check the mains cord using a multimeter and then check the motor and if both are OK it is fairly safe to assume the fault is circuit board related.
Flex shaft attachment
Takes an adapter to screw onto the nose of the Dremel. The shaft itself is gripped by the correct size collet tightened as you would any bit.
Flex shaft attachment won't work
find the little square attachment and place on the end of the dremel tool. I didid the same thing. Worked fine after I put the other part on.
I took apart my Dremel
It doesn't attach anywhere, that's why it popped out. It should just fit in a recess, pushing the lock button outward.
Dremel 4200 stopped working
No.. the issue issue is the switch inside. when your Dremel 4200 stop working, press firmly the grey area between the speed selector and the brush housing. I think this a defect in the design of the 4200.
Dremel Stylus charging
Even in 2018 this is still correct. Change the Capacitor and runs OK
I have put a 50 v to make sure this never happens again
My collet nut is stuck and I cannot remove it. Is
remove all the star head screws, unscrew the top plastic collet holding the plastic outer casing on. take a pair of vise grip locking pliers open the plastic casing just enough to expose the inner shaft inside the casing lock the vice grips onto the metal shaft between the bearing casing and the collet that is stuck enough to hold but not to dent it up. now that the vice grips are locked onto the main shaft get an adjustable wrench and size it to the collet screw size and turn it should come off rather easily or at least mine did just did it as i wrote this then screw the casing back together and happy dremeling hope this helps
Rotary tools types
Rotary tools can be divided into two types— Cut Out Tools and Basic Rotary Tools. The biggest difference between the two is the size of their motors. Cut out tools usually have larger motors.
Dremel 300 Series - I can't get a collet to go in
There is a collet stuck in there. It was probably in there without any tool in place, then the collet nut was tightened. With no tool filling the hole in the collet, it collapsed and became small enough to be pushed too far in. Fortunately these collets are soft steel. Find a sheet metal screw that you can screw into the hole. That will allow you to pull the collet out. Discard that collet. These collets come in at least two sized to accommodate different sizes of tool shafts. Unfortunately the spare one you have is one of those sizes, and the one you extracted is probably the other. But they don't cost much and you can buy them where you buy dremel tools.
Good luck,
Al K
