How does the Draper stud detector work
It produces a tuned magnetic field of it's own, and when a live wire or a nail enter that field it changes the loading in the detector's circuitry throwing it off tune, and depending how it is thrown off determines ifit is a nail, a wire or a live wire.It is the same basic principle of a metal detector you would use onthe beach to find metal things.

Cant move caulking gun handle
There should be a thumb release on the shaft at the handle end, press with your thumb and then pull back with the other hand on the shaft. If you have a used tube in the gun, it could be that some of the caulk came out the inside of the tube and hardened so that you cannot pull back the shaft, you will now have to cut the tube off with a utility knife to remove the old dried caulk
