There is a chance that the excessive heat possibly damaged a sensor and the ECU is not getting a needed signal. You need to have a scan tool hooked up that delivers real time live data and look for thinks like crank trigger and cam sensor signals. If it got too hot, I would also do a cylinder leak down test to make sure there isn't head or head gasket damage.

My 05 Lesaber was doing this and I found the cable that was from the accelerator was sticking in the tube it runs through to the carb.I got WD40 and sprayed in the tube on both ends. It seems ok now.
