hi good day, it sounds that their is bad parts which need to check at the power supply section of the unit. you can check the primary capacitor or a shorted regulator transistor. but make sure you have knowledge in basic electronic repair so you can perform this checking.

The TV remote should have a source button on it, you need to press it and find the scart socket or hdmi connection, it should display a list of the connection that are use for your TV. Some times you can use the power on on the DVD, so have your TV on then switch on the DVD and this may change the TV to the input that you have the DVD connected to automatic-lay. If you are using a TV arial for the DVD to connect to the TV then you need to tune the TV to the channel the TV is using I think in most cases it is channel 21 on the TV.

for that to happen, i would say your little laser lens on the player is dirty, and the dvd disc is dirty, you can clean a DVD disc with a chux superwipe in a circular motion, ensure the centre of the disc on the data side has no fingerprints or gunk....as thats the part Any DVD player needs to read the data first .....with the laser lens on the dvd player, just lightly put a napkin to your tongue and wipe the DVD lens in a round motion for a few seconds. if all fails....i would say the DVD carriage that moves along the Disc is kaput !!! dropped or thrown around too much......try the other solutions first ...see if that recifies the situation.

if that 2 band according to you from top to bottom,it has a defective vertical stage.if this two band appears one on top and one at the bottom,it`s on vertical stage.leaky capacitors,resistance changed or resistor devalued ang ic`s, are too weak to amplify a signal to make the screen complete....

I went to the Little Leaps website and went into customer support and viewed a link that provided additional codes. I have the Emerson dvd player with video cassette recorder EWD2203 and the code 027 which was listed in the additional codes at Little Leaps website worked for me.
Here is that list of additional codes from the Little Leaps website:
