My Dewalt d26541 orbital sander, which I have had for 4 years, stopped running. Could the brushes cause this or is the motor shot?
Brushes can definitely cause this but unless you feel fairly confident in pulling the unit apart, it may be more cost effective to just replace it. It would be unusual to see the brushes wear out so quickly but I do not know how much you use it or the load you put it under. I have a Rigid that I use a LOT and have had it for probably 5 - 6 years and it is holding strong. These things just tend to last. I would contact DeWalt and see if you can have them send you new brushes first and then go for it; the worst is that you ultimately have to replace it (which you might have had to anyway) and the upshot is that you fixed it yourself and now have many more years and sawdust sneezes in your future.
Dewalt dw625e intermittent power fault
Some power tools have a thermal reset switch built in. It sounds as if the thermal overload is faulty, or the unit has overheated. Check to insure the cooling ports of the motor are not clogged with sawdust.
How do I replace the belt on Dewalt cordless dc618?
Remove 2 screws on metal front cover.
Remove screws holding handle halves together and carefully separate (Be careful because trigger spring can fly out on you).
This will expose the belt and allow replacement. There is a spring loaded idler pulley so removal & replacing is easy.
Why is my DeWalt D51275 15 gauge angled finish nailer bending nails and jamming?
A few things to check - some may seem overly obvious but humor me:
1) Check your nails - make sure they are the correct angle and gauge
2) Check to make sure there is not a piece of a broken nail in the nose
3) Check the driver blade & insure it is not bent or chipped
4) Make sure the nail carrier spring is pushing nails forward and isn't getting hung up
Mitre saw makes horrible noise
- It sounds like the bearings in the motor are running dry and causing the noise. Possibly spray some wd40 in there but more than likely you will need a new saw. Is it still under warranty? If so take advantage of your warrant.
Dewalt 16 guage 18 volt finish nailer will not shoot nails
1) Check to see if the drive belt is intact
2) Check and make sure the driver blade is not bent
3) Make sure return device is properly clipped down so the driver can fully retract
If you don't have success, please let me know more details of what the tool is doing and I will try to talk you through it.
