Modified stator field

dw712 crosscut saw miter saw i have had a problem with the motor stator electric field and i was surprised by the MODIFICATION not seen if you don,t know about that this machine has undergone by the later builds of the same type .
Because the difference was not to find in the diagram and ordernumber of this stator field , because the older model has only 2 connecting wires,, and the later modified model has a stator field with 4 connecting wires . it has also a different ordernumber and is also a little bit more expensive.
So be warned when ordering a statorfield check the stator after 2 or 4 stator contacts advance order , it can has also be modified in the usa on the same way . !! i have also have asked for made changes on a diagram by Stanley/Dewalt (England) in between 1 hour they have made an change for it , for a powertool that was missing a type of [ model DC837 type 1] type 10 and 11 where the only ones to see there but type 1 was missing and the switch for that model was a problem but they have special made a kit for it because of the modified switch .

the vanes in the small air motor are stuck
try a small amount ( couple of drops ) of sewing machine oil in the air inlet and see it it will spin
you may need to bump the pad on the bench to jar the shaft to start rotating

It could be something as simple as the brushes

If you release the belt that would give you more room to get the cord out. When you releas the belt it brings the rollers together which loosens the belt.

I've been using dewalt tools exclusively for 15 years. I've fixed numerous drivers, sawzals, etc. I've learn 3 things over and over again. 1 cleaning & lubing are grossly under rated, 2 if one part goes the rest are not far behind & 3 it has never cost me more than $20 to $30 bucks more to have the repair place rebuild it than to fix it myself. And most times they give you a new bulk packaged tool as a rebuilt. My recommendation: have it rebuilt...enjoy the new tool.

how old is the battery, test and recharge, if ok make sure is well oiled. May have to have it serviced if it is still low on torque.

It may already have a nail jammed in it. You may have to take off the front face that holds the firing pin. There should be one or two screws in front just above where the nails come out. If you remove these there will be a plate that comes off and then you can remove a jammed nail. Look first to see if there is a jam before doing this. Also maybe you have the wrong guage nails or maybe you don't have proper air pressure. Hope this helps.

The bit holder resides in the clutch housing which has a collar with a ball bearing that the notch in the bit holder snaps into. It would seem that the ball bearing has slipped out of the cooler on the clutch housing, therefore nothing is locking it into placed. If you need a diagram, let me know.

Make sure the brads are not too small for the gun.

Could be one of 3 things - I'll give them in order of most common to least:
1) Brushes - check your brushes, if they are very worn or not contacting the armature well they could be the culprit.
2) Switch - tools with a brake have 1 set of normally open contacts & 1 set of normally closed contacts (the configuration is usually stamped on the switch itself) You will need to disconnect the leads to the switch and test it with a continuity tester - if the switch is your problem the normally closed contacts will show open.
3) Field - lastly (least common but possible) is the field, tools with a brake have 2 separate windings in the field. If the field is the issue there will be one winding in the field that will not have continuity (usually the smaller wires in the field) Again, you will need to disconnect the wiring to the field and test with a continuity tester.

Power? circuit breaker? Plug? Owner's manual. Troubleshooting
Does the motor hum? if so you have something jamed in the planer cutter.

Brushes can definitely cause this but unless you feel fairly confident in pulling the unit apart, it may be more cost effective to just replace it. It would be unusual to see the brushes wear out so quickly but I do not know how much you use it or the load you put it under. I have a Rigid that I use a LOT and have had it for probably 5 - 6 years and it is holding strong. These things just tend to last. I would contact DeWalt and see if you can have them send you new brushes first and then go for it; the worst is that you ultimately have to replace it (which you might have had to anyway) and the upshot is that you fixed it yourself and now have many more years and sawdust sneezes in your future.

is this a gas cartridge type of nailer? It could be the effects of gravity on the spray nozzle. try pushing down in normal position but dont fire it. quickly move to ceiling then try firing. I am not a fan of this type of nailer as they are problematic and finicky.
