I need to know the timing mark's on a 91 Mazda MPV 2.5L Engine

A Chiltons Manual will tell you, and post pictures to boot. There are other books, too, but Chiltons has always done right by me. Also, your local FORD dealer may be able to tell you. They use MAZDA engines in a few of their cars and trucks. Hope this helps.

Does the crankshaft position sensor, once replaced, need to be sync'd with the ECM or any other item within my vehicle

It should not need to be synced - the car's computer should sync itself with the CPS as soon as it detects cranking.

Can an O2 sensor cause an engine to shut down?

Not completely. If the O2 sensor fails entirely, the car should go into "limp mode", which is a minimal but functional control mode. In "limp mode" you should be able to drive the car as necessary to get it somewhere someone can fix the problem. Otherwise, the car may leave you stranded in the middle of Death Valley, where you'd die. You're getting an O2 sensor code? Or you've gotten one before and resolved to fix it "someday" but meanwhile your car quit running? You'd better pull fresh codes now to see what the computer believes is the problem.
