The flashing pause light on your DeLonghi dehumidifier indicates that the unit is in a defrost cycle. If the air conditioner works and is blowing out super chilled air, then the dehumidifier function should work. The function takes in warm moist air and passes it over plates which are marginally colder than the ambient air. The air condenses and drips into a collection tank, or some have drain hose for putting into a floor drain. After 8 years, it may need service and gassing up, but you may also have drier air than you think. Whether is works in AC Mode is the key.

The hose is supposed to be in the tank. Someone emptied the tank and forgot to put the hose back.

I got mine fixed tonight! It was not that easy but can be done.
After my last post, I called the customer service of DeLonghi. The agent can only refer me to the authorized repair shops but she does not know what “E3” meant. There is no shop in NJ where I live, and the closest one is in CT! One of the two shops there knows right away the E3 is the fault of a condenser sensor. He mailed me the part ($25) and I took the covers off (be very careful to record where the screws are from ---- they are not all the same size/shape, and also there are two small tabs on the top holding two cover pieces together, so don’t force it to open or you will break it). There is only one part looks like the same as the replacement part I newly obtained and it has a metal clip attached on the copper coils. Carefully replace the sensor on the coil as you find previously and plug the other end to the control board. It sounds lengthy but once you open the cover it will all become clear to you. Be patient and this can be done. Very glad to see/hear it is working now again!

p.s., the store first mailed me the wrong part (on the plug-in end it has two ridges rather than one) so I have to call them again to explain and they mailed me a different one with a single ridge. Apparently there are two types (old and new model) for this model.

Some dehumidifiers have provisions for connection of an ordinary garden hose to drain into a tub, a standpipe, or a sump pit.

The E3 Code, indicates that the air intake filter needs to be removed and cleaned. Be sure the unit is OFF and unplugged before removing the filter. Filter cleaning should be performed at least once every two weeks, as part of Routine Maintenance.

all this info is in the manual. Either you threw it away or are a person who does not like to read.

The tank may be full. Your dehumidifier has a safety device that turns off the dehumidifier when the water tank is full. Usually the tank itself either presses against a switch or there's a device connected to the tank that triggers a switch when the tank is in place and full.

If you've emptied the tank and the unit doesn't run, inspect the place where the tank rests to see if there's a switch or mechanism that's not being activated. You may be able to turn it on with a simple flick of your finger.

Usually happens when the float valve is stuck in the down or up position try wiggling the handle to release or if the collection bucket is not sitting perfectly on the safety switch has to be down square I have the delonghi dem10 model always empty and unplug before checking

Are you worried as to why there is no Water in the Water Tank/Bucket at all? Well, a few operational basics must be understood by you please. For the unit to remove moisture from the air and draw water into the bucket/tank, the set relative humidity (%RH) must be below the current or ambient room relative humidity. Attempt to lower or reduce the setting you have to a lower value and it should start collecting water in the tank. Hope this helps

If your unit is running constantly yet there is no water in the tank, try lowering the temperature control. If the problem persists, there may be a problem within the refrigeration system. You may need to pull the filter and clean it. Also try wiping off the unit itself. When the water tank is full, the unit will shut off and will not run until the tank is emptied. The dehumidifier shuts off by a safety switch in the back of the unit. If the switch is not working properly, you may try manually pressing the button or slightly bending the switch.

Motor If the fan motor is damaged or will not work, no cool air will be coming out of the dehumidifier. The unit, however, may still run. You may need to replace the motor. If the coils in the back of the dehumidifier constantly freeze, try turning off the unit for an hour or re-locating the unit to a higher position to allow the room to heat up. If your water tank is constantly full and you are emptying it on a daily basis, you may have a water leak somewhere in the room with the dehumidifier.
