It is highly unlikely that the flat mouse batteries had anything to do with the problems with your D-Link. I would try powering down both the router and range booster and then power them back up after waiting 15 seconds. If that doesn't work I would check that your netgear has a wireless signal and you can connect to the internet through that. If that is working OK, then I would see if you can log on to your D-Link range booster using wifi. If that works OK, then go to the setup section and make sure it is receiving the netgear wifi signal.

No lights means no power, so that's not a good sign.
Can you check that it's plugged in?
Is the transformer plugged in properly?
(Obvious one: is the plug switched on?)
Can you try another power supply to see if that's the problem?
Can you try another electrical socket to see if that's the problem?
Have you another router to try with your existing power supply to see if its a dead router?

I am not sure that I understand the question
Wireless access cards (pci or pcmcia or USB) are just a means to connect to a network and do not have any device specific "settings" to change. There is no push button like on the back of a router to do any resetting, since there are no 'settings' for each device
The security and passord settings are held at the router and modem, not at this cliebnt card level.
