After three months of trying and trying in many computers, following many, many procedures found all over the Internet, my Creative Nomad has accepted the firmware and has borned again.
What I did? 1. Connected the Nomad on a computer with Windows XP and Windows Media Player 9, that never has been touched by a creaive device. It recognizes the device but can´t find any update to the drivers, 2. Updated Windows Media Player 9 to Windows Media Player 10, 3. Restart the computer 4. Connect the Nomad and the computer recognizes the device and autamtically search and found updated MPT drivers. 5. Run the firmware update program "ZenXtraP4SAudible_PCFW_LB_2_10_03 (Creative Zen Xtra PlaysForSure Firmware 2.10.03)" 6. Finally the magic button always has been disabled was enabled so start reloading firmware.
And now the Nomad is working in windows vista.
The difference between the computer where the firmware works and the others is that this has never had media player 10 or 11 and never has installed creative drivers.
Hope this can be useful to smoeone, somewhere, sometime.....
Replace elco C61 (68uF/450V) ; it is empty or almost empty.
Also remove the dark-brown glue carefully. The glue turns from light to dark brown by heat and becomes conductive (some Mohms) www.tvman.nl
ok , so did this person who tried this first just try it out of frustration? This is so crazy but we tried 4 times before it worked. What the heck. Does anyone have any guesses as to why it worked.
Go to Control Panel >> Sounds and Audio Devices. Click on Advanced button under Speaker Settings and for Speaker Setup select 5.1 surround sound speakers from the options. Click Apply >> Ok and then check.
I Think its a loose connection in electric circuit. Due to vibration in the woofer the connection might be going off. Check the power circuit for any loose connections.
posted by Sandeep Sharma hai, Here is the solution. when u cut the PCB from both sides u will
find 4 cables i.e. green blue yellow and a copper wire coming from
woofer and 3 cables white, red, yellow coming from audio lead. connect
the green cable to copper cable and yellow to blue coming from woofer.
Now take white cable coming from audio jack.connect this with yellow
blue cables of woofer. Now attach Red and Yellow, connect these to
green and copper cables of woofer and enjoy. if problem persist then
make experiment to make interchanges with red white yellow coming from
audio lead to the 2 sections of woofer side. woofer connections
green/copper and yellow/blue remain same.

Here is a link where you can find the driver, firmware, and application for your camera. Just select your operating system, make sure in the next box that the word 'All' is showing then click next.
The previous poster is right; I do repairs on these all the time, and the most common problem is a cracked screen. The crack is on the back so you can't see it. The screen will need to be replaced.
The volume control is nothing more than small complicated rheostat. If you don't know electronics take it to a radio repair shop. Just tell the repair guy to build you a new one using the old cord. That is if the cord is not what is bad! Take the entire unit with you. For a trained repair man it should be a easy thing to rebuild. I own a P7800 and if the control unit should break that is just what I would do.
I had the same problem: "Playback error", and nothing i did, helped. But when i pushed the reset buttom, below the on/of button, it turned of, and when i switched it on again, it worked. Maybe you could try again?
Otherwise I say this on YouTube, but thought it was a little drastic ;-)" />
I had an extra one but I sold it. According to creative labs they do not sell any replacement parts for the speaker systems. The best suggestion that I can give is to check craigslist and ebay for the control pods.
Stupid question: does the sound still work? it could be the LED just died after continual use (rare, since they last a long time, but not uncommon). If not... it could be the controlling circuit board died. In which case, unless you have electronics repair experience, it would be probably more worthwhile to just replace the speakers, as pricey a model as it is.
uninstall and reinstall the sound driver and see if it works if that does not work try the same speakers to different sys. and check if it works the port of the sound card might have gone bad and if the same problem with other sys. speakers had gone bad.
