Your probably got a bad print head in this inkjet your looking around $15-30 for replacment of the print head. Since your tryed cleaning and allignment this what is left in the conclusion.

Using the Lexmark Z42 driver works for Vista Home Premium.

check the fuse! probably it blowed up... :D

Try this:
Click Start, then internet explorer, then tools, then internet options, advanced tab, reset button, a new window appears then reset, close Ok.

If you can hear a click like it is trying to strike the lamp when you press power, then the ballast still probably works and you just have a dud lamp. Check for an error indicator.

My thought is that the refilled ink cartridge some how got damaged and will now not let this cartridge or even a new cartridge perform the cleaning function.
I have to say. It may be best to fully remove the power to the printer and it's connection to the PC before powering the printer down. Leave it sit for about an hour and then plug the printer back into the PC first and then plug it's power back in.
See if this may help.

I managed to find one on eBay for about $13.

Clear the printer cache, unplug the power to the printer, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. It should be fine then.

Disconnect the power; remove the printer/USB cable.Apply litytle sewing machine oil on a piece of cloth and firmly apply on the steel rod. Please ensure just a little oil film is put on the rod. Now without connecting the printer with the computer just turn on the printer & then turn it off after 15-20 seconds. Repeat this 4-5 times. Now when you'll open the cover while keeping the printer on, the cartridge box will slide to center.

Examine the printer and youwill see a depression that is designed justfor on finger.
Tug on it an the door will open and the cartridges will be exposed.

just press on th efront of each one at a time and each will fall forward.

position th enew one in a similar fasion and push itin place.

Then close the door and press enter.
you should be good to go.

Un-install the software and re-install it and see what happens.

One of the ink cartridges must be bad ( not being detected by the printer). Please check by replacing the ink cartridges one by one.

No, sorry, HP does not supply a Vista driver. Refer to Compaq A1000 Support

Disconnect the power supply & also remove the signal cable. Connect after few minutes.Open the cover & re-install both the cartridges one by one - remove & re install. It should work.

you can go to ebay and get one for cheap.also you can check at wal mart or radio shack.but ebay would be the cheapiest
