Hariata, I am not sure what your question is here, as it is not complete. :) I can say that Compaq most often uses F10 on Boot up to enter the system BIOS, which controls the system hardware. If that is what you are after, enter the BIOS and locate the option for either "Load System Defaults" or "Load Optimized Defaults". Those are the Factory Hardware Settings. Factory Software settings are a completely separate option. Typically located on a Recovery Disk Set or a Hidden Boot Partition that can be loaded with a Special Button on the Keyboard, Key reference like "F3", "F4", or "F5" on Boot Up, or a Link within Windows, Programs.

with the cord from your monitor yo ucan plug it into any new flat screen now. if you want sound tho you will have to get the small 1/8 in patch cord. just unhook it from the old monitir and plug it in to the new tv. if the cord does not come off the back of the monitor you wil have to find one at some second hand store

If your going to use a secondary program to fetch drivers for you, driverguide is a joke it only allows a limited number of retrievals and most are way out dated and also will give incorrect drivers. Find the manufactures site and check for the latest driver. Some have their own software to located what driver you need for the hardware. For instance Dell I have a inspiron laptop needs wifi driver wireless 1704. Nothing on my unit in the papers with it or even in device manager told me this. Dell has a program called bootstrap which scams your system and relays driver and updates.Sometimes a specific unit may have a few configurations depending on it factory ordered or store bought. This can make a little work if a list of possibilities shows. Luckily in my case there was 1 listing. . If you do want to go the route of using a secondary program I would suggest SlimDrivers They stay on top of all drivers. I had to find a sound driver that come to find out the company no longer provides service of such (soundmax) Driverguide gave ma and update for soundblaster (2007). I installed it and ended up with no sound what-so-ever. Slimdriver looked it up and found the very last time it was put out (2003). Hi Pavan, If the LEDs glow to indicate that power is available, the sound of a fan or spinning hard drive can be heard, but no colors, images, or text are displayed on the LCD display. The cause of this problem may be the failure of a hardware component, or an error in the instruction being sent from the BIOS to a hardware component. DO THIS FIRST - Perform a hard reset If a PC suddenly fails to boot properly, you should perform a hard reset as the first procedure. 1. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards. You want to test the computer not the accessories! 2. Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds . 3. Reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not connect the battery), Press the Power button, Look for glowing LEDs near caps lock and num lock keys, and Listen for sounds of a disk drive and fan turning. Actions to take after performing hard reset If no error message is displayed: 1. Connect an external monitor 2. Test for memory module problems 3. Test the hard drive G'Luck.

Your laptop doesn't come with a wifi adapter. Buy a USB wifi adapter. If you're still using Win ME get rid of it. Try XP or Win 7. Get the most RAM installed that you can.

Try a different PSU (mains adapter). The voltages you measured were under no-load conditions (?): may be your power adapter is defective in such a way that it is unable to provide enough current at the specified voltage to be useful. Many circuits now have protection circuitry built in, which detect short and open circuits, and thermal faults, and shut down when such faults are detected. Preferably with the battery only, try measuring the voltages with the computer on and the computer off (be very careful). You should see a slight drop in the voltages with the power 'on' due to the exta load. If you do not see such a drop it is likely that the computer is not 'trying' to turn itself on (not drawing current) for some reason. The problem you described, is related to the inverter board. There's a little board, that take care of lights on the monitor. You must replace the inverter board to solve the problem. Here you have an image, of an inverter board. Good luck, and be safe! Inverter boards, it's dangerouse to replace yourself if you don't know what you are doing. High-Voltage inside :)

Boot to failsafe - reset your desktop dimensions. It's currently over range for the size of the laptop screen.

Try entering your BIOS and make sure your new drive is being recognized in the drives section and aslo make sure your drive is set to SATA not RAID . you can use AHCI mode also just it to set it to SATA then see if it installs. Also are you using a dvd to install it use a not scratched copy of windows DVD and install it fron your dvd/cd drive and set it to boot from your optical drive in BIOS as well.

The screen is broken.

This is illegal in may states. Even if you hacked the wifi pw? how well do you think the network is protected? how do you not know that you will be exposed to harmful programs or that you will not be "hacked"? Im watching you now. Please put some clothes on. It is embarrassing.

Press the "caps lock" key once to take it off capital letters. If that doesn't work, get an external keyboard and plug it in and try it. That should do it.

Your screen has a problem. No way to solve this problem by any software. If it is on warranty, claim service If warranty is over, I'm not sure it can be repaired, probably screen must be changed and it is quite expensive.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. It could be a system background task that accidentally got shown up to the user.

Drive is formatted with wrong file system. The files you're trying to copy are too big

check o see if your sound driver is compatible with new software operating system.

Please ensure that you have admin rights to install software on your laptop. Otherwise try creating a new windows profile and then install software.
