compaq is HP so best is to ask them, there, now here. what PC? it has full model name, CQ56-1000? or? what OS? we can not guess and OS ever. Opt. syst. what are the full symptoms? from step 1. wow complex post... does it run with no battery (yes/no) is the coil cell at 3vdc? below 2.9v is bad. as all are this old. PSU is destop yours is powerpack with 2 pins only. 19v 65wattes is it? is there voltage 19v plugged in and 19v during the 5 magic seconds? two yellow and 2 black wires (what?) no photos posted. if you disconnect those wires and the battery is out it can not run. ever. so that is confusing, that statement. keep in mind I cant watch you. or SEE IT, either the pack is wrong (no photo of the end cable presented or watts and volts stated on the label.. no photo of your internal cable. at all so i can see its CORRECT. this is what exits the power pack. there are no colored wires here, unless damaged. the PC does have a mother board jack or cable adaptor (bettery) if you look close the 4 wires there come to 2 pins. there are no books on this PC now, at HP and parts for it are hard to find, cept PACK. very few parts, now. why do this> why not just go to goodwill and find a newer PC. end the horrors of very old COMPAQs. get one with W7 or newer COA sticker (hp) on the bottom!

old compaq Notebooks. running what OS what windows is there, of the 14 made. my guess XP on up.? the hp data sheet says VISTA. is it still running VISTA? still have the HP recovery disks>? all modern screens and GPU chips have many possible resolutions. this great benefit allows you to run old APPS that only do low (poor) resolutions, (i can name some if you ask, some old video players) the only problem using old laptops is the lack of support after 10 long years, and HP ends that. I';d give on finding HP drivers. this old. and that Vista support ended this year, HP and at MS. V1000 to V6000 are now retired. see here for proof THAT being said, i plunder on and try to find the correct drivers first I attempt to ID that GPU chip, (i have scanner to make that easy but can do that here can I) so i must google to find the data sheets. step one is what OS, you never said so the job expands or fails. this LT is a relic, there are no new parts so go to EBAY, see that LAPTop there, what you see there is all you get. or wait for 6months each day checking, for hard to find parts. that is and LCD cable simple ./ there is no HP(compaq) support on any pc this old. leaving only the used parts market./ google that yet, like "compaq, laptop parts" its like having a real old car, and needing parts. hard to find, yes.

Hello there Hints: 1) You got a driver or device problem, 2) use the drivers that cam with your f700 particulary these ones, 1) video card 2) sound card (sometimes if driver is bad, it can cause these problems) 3) RAM problems, to isolate the problem, if you have the expertise take ount one ram module at a time and turn on the computer. see if these helps!

BIOS runs with no HDD !! runs with no CDRom, so that means it cant be OS related at all. ever. in this case. HP Pavilion dv2550se Notebook PC (my guess at true name)HP does not support W7 on this plateform.that means , you are only own STEAM, with drivers. but if all you need is one driver to work, you can get that , that the maker of that GPU chip.This PC CAME WITH VISTA ONLY. EVER.THE PC DAY1 had 1 chips offered, one intel, other nvidia. we PCI scan all hardware to find whats there,so can you , or ask hp for that fact by telling them your serial number, we are not HP here its just a silly chat room here.

I would plug it into external monitor. it if works good on the monitor. could be bad video cable or lcd panel. video cables get pinched in the hinge or lcd get broken due to lack of support around the screen (poor design)

BIOS works? that is first not windows EVER, BIOS works. does it? you do know BIOS works with CD drive and HDD drive out right>? if not the power pack is dead, or the mobo regs are dead. you can pull ram sticks and run them 1 by 1 to see if one is toasted. there are many modules on all LT MOBO, that can short out. a tech pulls them. to learn that.. fact. bingo? what a tech does is strip it down to near nothing here to get BIOS alive again. if its goes live the fan spins, see? if BIOS is dead, all PCs made are dead. hopeless. BIOS does the boot and hand off to HDD< see? focus like a laser on BIOS....! and win. you typed the model wrong, so is now 2 times harder to help you. compaq presario C762NR wow, posting with NO OS stated, no Operating system stated. windows what?, OS2, Linux, what? be specific or help will not be correct. connecting. we don't know at all what connections you have, none stated? is this an Ethernet cable (cat5/6-RJ45) ? to your ROUTER? or wifi to your home router, what? if Ethernet cable works and wifi not then we know is wifi only. why not use a cable, buy one for $3 and keep it handy. btw , the cables allows getting long winded windows updates 100x faster. or if installing an new or updated or restore OS even faster. we have no idea at all what OS is there. nor if it was upgraded to a higher version without HP support. its and HP computer now, Compaq is gone. if you look in DEVICE MANAGER. see all net work chips there, ? are all of them happy, no red, no yellow marks or missing ? if yes, then your DRIVERS are wrong, or corrupted. that is step one, not get connected. get connected can not fix bad drivers. so DM is first. but first first is what , DRIVERS matching your unstated OS.

Why are you worried about this? You are getting a warning that the hard drive is about to die. In your place, I would copy any data I wanted to keep to the desktop and then replace the hard drive. You can then image the original drive to the new one and try the restore again. The Panther\unattend.xml file is created and Windows uses it during the restore process in order to know what to do, copying it from another computer (if you can find one) would probably totally mess up the installation. The reason it cannot be parsed is probably because it was created on a section of the hard drive that has already failed - remember, your hard drive is dying.

is this a CCFL LDC if yes the inverter is bad. wrong power pack, ask at HP.com yet the real HP forum it not the pack then the power regulator chips are blown on the mobo. a vary bad deal that. the OS is not bad, the power runs even in BIOS and no HDD. the mOBO is what chargers the battery. there can be 2 chips one for main reg, and one of charge reg. the PC sees you plug in the power pack and see power from the A/c side go good, if not it goes to battery the chip does all That magic, not WINDOWS. what if the new battery was bad. (lots are, ever see the huge recall on batteries?????????) for GOOD REASON. I keep 2 good batteries from mine all the time., 2. There is no way to diagnose any charger chip with only 1 battery needs 2 good batteries to get hard evidence proof. If you look at you mobo and see those 2 chips there. mine is 8mm square, and is SMD chips you'd play hell testing that. no? the pins are underneath it. of the AC pack is correct, for Volts and watts then the mobo is bad, the switch over to Battery at AC power on, means the AC side is bad or weak, or the battery has shorted cell, did you measure your battery first with a voltmeter to see if one cell is shorted, as they ALL LOVE TO DO>?
