Start your web browser, find options, open options. Find and open search. On this page you will see "Use the address bar for search and navigation" and "Add search bar in toolbar" which puts a separate window next to the address bar with search written in it.. Choose which one you want to use Go down to one click search engines. You will see a number of search engines in a box usually ticked. I use a search engine called Duckduckgo because it does not keep any data on me... under the search engines box there is a line in blue "Find more search engines". Click on the blue line and you will see a list of different search engines, click on one and a new page will open up and you follow instructions to install the search engine. There are a number of reasons why a computer will bluescreen. You'll likely need to take the unit in to a qualified technician to get it fixed.

57-100 57-200, 57-300 or 400? there are 4 versions. to what device? unstated and matters big time. BT head phones? first is , it must have Bluetooth, most didn't then. it was an option, then. HP has it , if you download it. the #1 cause of Bluetooth software driver failure is upgrading the unstated OS and there is no driver for that OS. Core 2 Duo E4x00 with Dual Core technology (Conroe) up to E4400 relic. 2GB max ram. total. gma950. no intel support now. why think this card mobo has COM1 port, there is none nor LPT line printer port, for years. a 2002 PC made new, 20 years old, a record here for old and useless really it will grow a virus soon, (I warned you) last person on XP on earth are you, ?? why? most 2002 PC can not boot all things we see now today. usb what, not told. I have USB SSD, drive USB flash memory thumb drive. USB m2. drive USB DVD drive. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2002, boot choices, in the manual. hdd cd floppy ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- no usb listed in the manual go bios PAGE 1 setup find all entry points showing USB the all for boot see no USB devices allowed boot in 2002 see boot order, in bios if the device fails to show up there it is dead. what did you put on the USB drive, Linux installer? not told. the manual tells to set boot order first, to 1st thing needed to boot, if USB fails to show up there , it does not support it. some relic BIOS ive seen have line there called allow USB to boot. no kidding look for that too. answering for usb boot device not told tested and working on modern PC.

Hopefully it will still work with a new battery and power supply to charge it. They were quite reasonable back in 2008. Win7 software (no longer supported) and fairly fast.

Old Desktop, now 16 years old. well it is old and needs service as all do that old as in HARDware first. the PC is 2006 old, a super relic now. That sounds like your hard drive may be dead...

If you are more than just a beginner you can attach that drive to your PC and run a drive copy program that will create an exact image of your current drive. Once that is created then you can add the new drive to the computer make sure your system recognizes it and can boot from it. I have done this many times.

older Compaq day, wow. the C57 has many numbers in suffix, 57 is not just one PC. ok. why not read the service tag first and tell the full model number first. 2011 year , is not too old just 2 years before all compaqs ended, for ever. or google that code. here I will for you., and zip nada so you did not tell the story, you push the power button with main battery removed, (big bat out ,yah they SHORT) and push power for 10 seconds and release power. 1: fan silent, it must not be, this is first. 2: screen dead, no 70876817, POST code text? 3: bios hot keys dead. 4: Bios screens dead.? 5: windows login screen missing? if it is even windows at all? no beeps no flashing LED codes? repeating endless.

Lights can come on but your CPU is not booting the Operating System. Can be the Hard drive or windows os.

On that model,there are a few things that can cause your problem.None are simple and the most common is the GPU (video chip) has lost contact due to over heating. The cost of repairing it, if you could find someone willing ,Would be way more than one that old is worth.
