If it's only a battery cover just use cardboard and tape to cover it

We just bought this at yard sale. It took us forever to figure out how to replace the batteries and also clean the cover. The trick is to slide it off instead of pull it off. Does that make sense? Push from the back of the unit outwards and it will slide off. Hope this helps!

There is a battery in the insole. Lift the insole and the battery will be in the heel

R.F. absorber??? If you need to increase the unit's ability to receive R.F., try a small piece of aluminum foil in addition to the receiving antenna. This should help alot.
