Printer says wrong cartridge, even after replacing

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken . Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or poor ink cartridge contacts. Sometimes the power supply unit must be checked as a poor SMPS unit can deliver low voltage and cause issues to the printer function. Check all the leads and connections of the mother board , the tags to the ink cartridge. Also check the mechanical settings of the ink cartridge , if jammed or tight remove motor and manually free the drive before it is set back.

Unfortunately you need both the color cartridge(s) and the black in order to print. Both need to be installed and have a sufficent amount of ink in order to print. There is no way that I know of to get around it.

4. Press [] to select the cleaning setting you want. Select [HEAD CLEANING] for normal print head cleaning. Select [HEAD REFRESHING] for deep print head cleaning.

6. Print a Nozzle Check Pattern and perform at least two Head Refreshing if the pattern is not correct.

If this does not work, then It seem the contacts on the print head are damaged and you have to replace the print head to resolve the issue. But before that you can follow the steps below to remove the print head and then cleaning the copper contacts on them with a cotton swab dampened in distilled water until they are clean after drying them check the issue if the problem persist then replace the print head to resolve the issue.

Hello, My Canon Multipass was

Hello there, your printer has encountered a system error. the first thing you want to do is try to cancel all print jobs which have been sent to the printer. Next you disconnect the unit from its main source of power for about 15 to 30 mins. When this has been done the printer should reset itself automatically. Any system errors which has occurred on the printer would have reset itself within the time frame. If it is connected to a PC uninstall the driver and restart the PC before reinstalling the driver again. After all of this the unit has reset itself and cleared all errors which might have been the cause of the problem. If this does not solve the problem then you need to refer the unit to the nearest canon center as it indicates the problem is hardware related and might need replacement parts.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

When I print or copy,

Hello,
You could try taking some paper towel, wet it a bit and sit the cartridge on it. Also take a look at the electronic contacts on the side of the cartridge. Make sure they aren't dirty, and if they are gently wipe them clean. Sit the cartridge on the wet paper towel and let it soak a bit then put it back in the printer, and do another head clean from the printer settings. This should moisten the micro ink holes and hopefully free any clogged ink particles.
If it still doesn't work, the printer cartridge may be damaged beyond easy repair and will need to be replaced. Also note, if you are using refilled (re serviced) cartridges, they have a shorter life span and can be hit and miss as the cartridge is being used beyond its intended life span.
If you let the cartridges sit too long (weeks / months) before printing again, the cartridges will dry up.

Wrong cartridge...I removed the cartridge

If you are getting an error that says "wrong cartridge" then the ink cartridge you are trying to use is defective. Return the cartridge to the store you bought it at and get another one. Do not use refilled cartridges unless they are purchased by a professional who knows what they are doing. Your problem lies with your ink cartridge and not the printer.

Good Day Akaylor1!

The fix to this problem is to clean the glass of the ADF platen glass or the flatbed scanner glass.

Use a lint clothe moistened with water or alcohol and wipe the dirt (mostly dried ink) on the surface of the glass.

If you have receive a fax and there is still the line, it is possible that the problem is on the sender. Let them know to clean the ADF platen glass of flatbed scanner glass of their fax machines.

That will fix it!

My canon Pixma MP 780

There is ink absorbers located at both ends of the printerwhere the ink head move.
To dry the ink absorber, power up the printer and open the cover so the inkcartridges and print head will move to the middle of the printer.
Then take several sheets of absorbent tissue, fold it into a pad and place itinside the printer over the ink absorber on the far left hand side of theprinter to soak up the excess ink. You may need to change the absorbent tissuea few times. Then repeat the same procedure on the right hand ink absorber.
Closethe lid and the printer should now function normally.
