Its service manual would include such instructions but I have no access to such. Rather, I can provide links to the user manual. Unfortunately, that user manual does not even mention fuses. You might check with Cannon to see if they will download a service manual to you. Otherwise, here is a manual to a similar Cannon product which does include instructions to fuse removal. Of course, it is unlikely the same fuses are used by both. If the iris is opening to let light in, that light is not being changed to a picture signal or that picture signal is not going into the camera circuits, What you see in the viewfinder is what is being recorded, Make sure that no cables have been left plugged in to the camera and turn the power on and off several times, I have seen the iris stick when cameras were not used for a while. The iris is inside or behind the lens and closes completely when you turn the camera off, If it is stuck, SOMETIMES it will open with repeated tries of turning it off and on or even removing the battery and putting it back in. And maybe it is just the vibration of opening and closing the battery compartment door or the slight vibrations of pushing the power button repeatedly. If it sticks once, it will stick again. This is not a repair, just a way to get those one time pictures' before.

Have you plugged the right cables into the correct sockets ?

If it has indeed been dropped, then sadly it is probably beyond economic repair

When the product is too old and there are no repair parts sitting in a warehouse somewhere.....it isn't going to get repaired.

That is the pinch roller. If it does not press the tape against the capstan, then the tape will not pass the read/write heads. Replace it.

Do you have the leads plugged in correctly ?

hello, As your camera only has analogue outputs, you will need to buy a video capture card for your PC, such as those made by Leadtek. As mentioned by Tela above, there are also external USB-connected devices that do the same job. Make sure your PC exceeds the minimum spec or you may lose information during capture. I would recommend at least 1GHz processor. Hope that helps.

Old or worn Audio Tape Head needs replacing, Head Cleaning tapes are not the best for these, they can only be used so many times and they do rub tape carbon into the tape head, best thing to do is get an ear bud cleaner -"Cotton Buds" - and dip it into metho and give the tape head a light rub with it and ear bud, should do it...if still has issue then the tape audio head is had it, but rarely do they breakdown.

Clean the read write heads - if it has been stored with a tape in it, then the tape could have left a deposit on the heads.

Any battery will lose the ability to take a charge if left unused for over a year. Replace all the batteries, charge them fully, and re-charge them at least once a month.

There is an issue with the video record/playback circuits. If you can playback previously recorded material then the problem lies in the record area.

Unusual conditions probably refers to camera shake or lighting below the camera's range. Try using a tripod and use sufficient light - does it do this when you use the camcorder outdoors in daylight, or only indoors? If you are shooting hand held try to brace against your body or an object that will not move. These warning beeps are supposed to occur for image quality purposes, and most digital cameras warn you if you are trying to video and the operation is outside the range of conditions that the device "likes". I suspect motion or low light or a mix of both is causing your refocus and beeping. Easy mode is meant to have a range of operational conditions parameters that compensate for problems that will affect image quality, but this is a compromise setting. The camcorder is trying to balance the formula of vibration, lighting, and focus. Try to select another mode of operation - if no other mode is able to do what you want in the conditions you have to work with it is likely your inadvertent movement is the problem. If you stabilize the camera and it still beeps you probably have too dim of lighting conditions for the camera to have a good exposure. Digital cameras work similar to film cameras in that they are designed around a given set of parameters - most of which are a fixed range of lighting and minimal movement of the camera.
