Suggestion: Remove the memory chip from the Canon and get a reader that plugs directly into your USB port on the vaio. Available online or at any computer shop or big box store. You should be able to open the photos directly from the chip. They'll be in a DCIM folder - you may have to easter-egg around a bit, or search for *.jpg Lots faster and less frustrating than the camera's software interface.

hello, As your camera only has analogue outputs, you will need to buy a video capture card for your PC, such as those made by Leadtek. As mentioned by Tela above, there are also external USB-connected devices that do the same job. Make sure your PC exceeds the minimum spec or you may lose information during capture. I would recommend at least 1GHz processor. Hope that helps.

When the product is too old and there are no repair parts sitting in a warehouse somewhere.....it isn't going to get repaired.

It is unlikely in the extreme that there are any updated drivers for equipment as old as this.

If it ain't compatible, it ain't compatible. Compatibility is not something that can be bolted on afterwards - replace the camcorder

Do you have the leads plugged in correctly ?

fixya site is not canon site so find the correct web page for canon and vent your anger in their customer section and it doesn't matter if the unit is imported or not , the service agent for canon have to fix it if it is still under warranty
