Mykenmore watersoftner will not regenerate model
Hi Funk,
If your Kenmore softener is over 10 years old, don't spend a penny on it. Replace it with a new softener. Find a Certified Water Specialist in your local phone book for the best advice. My Autotrol softeners with a turbulator have a life expectancy of 19 to 23 years so you can buy better. If under 10 years old call Sears and find out how much it will cost if they come and rebuild your softener and then figure if that money might be better spent of something new with higher quality.

Sestem is not using up salt and will not flush the
Hi Joey,
There could be several reasons why your softener is not using salt. If it has a Demand Control the turbine that meters the water may be blocked and stuck so the softener doesn't realize that you are using any water, so it won't try to regenerate.
Your injector may be plugged, although this would cause the salt tank to become more full with each regeneration.
If you initiate a manual regeneration and regeneration does not happen you may need to replace the softener.
Knowing what make, model and age of your softener would help greatly in assessing. The best quality softeners last 15 to 18 years unless you have an Autotrol Turbulator in your softener, in which case add 25% more time; 19 to 23 years. There are a few brands that don't seem to last longer than 10 years...

What is a water distiller?
A water distiller is a device that removes most impurities from water, through distillation. Distillation means boiling the water and then collecting the condensed steam into a clean container.
What is the difference between a spirit level and
A spirit level looks like a really thick ruler with a small tube with liquid in it and the bubble in the liquid is used to make sure that the line between two points is level. A water level on the other hand is a contraption made of tubing and water that works like a poor mans level. You hold the water to the height that you want and then make sure that both ends of the tubing are level before moving on. While this method is said to be more accurate some people are more comfortable with a spirit level.
What are water levels used for?
Lets say that you want to make sure that two wooden posts are the same height. You would use a water level to make sure that the tops are at the same level, this method is very useful for if the two posts are too far apart for a regular level and if the ground isn't level.

Pool stabilizer
Their are no test kits available for residential home owners. Wherev you can take your water sample to will be able to test for cyanaric acid(stabilizer). They will give you the value to add to the water. Follow the instructions on the stabilizer container to add the amount based on the water volume you have for your pool. Most recommend adding it into a stocking and hanking it from the ladder or inside the skimmer to allow for slow dissolving
Do drinking fountains easily infect one person with other peoples' contagious diseases?
When drinking fountains were first created they used to shoot "water one inch straight into the air, creating a bubbling texture, and the excess water" used to run "back down over the sides of the nozzle" (wikipedia) This was definitely an easy way to convey deseases. However, after a while, the production of drinking fountains started adopting an arc projection, which made it easier for the person to drink and made it more sanitary. Nowdays the jet of water goes as far as four inches in order to avoid infections and bacterial transmission.
