A Timex watch battery will last between two and five years, depending on how often you use the Indiglo feature, while the watch itself can easily last five to ...
I am very sorry to hear that news, just dreadful :>(
I was trying to find out who actually makes this watch, but there is no data. Normally you send to the maker and they repair it. My late wife bought me a Seiko, and although I live in Canada, I send it to the UK where it was purchased and where the service centre is for servicing. you could ask Nike who was contracted to produce it? My guess is Casio, because it has the Casio look to it.
One thought I have is that the battery that was put in it was the wrong type or it was inadvertently replaced with a battery out of another watch that came in for repair. I would have another battery put in it and see what happens. It is actually a collectible watch.

Let's guess it is a Smart Watch? because you say it has a charger. There is a battery, but it is sealed inside. Makers say they are not replaceable by the home consumer and have to go away for servicing.

This will depend on the back of the watch. Totally smooth watch back is usually a push fit. Using a small precision screwdriver you Gently lever around the back plate until it 'Pops' off. the battery should hook out by CAREFULLY using the screwdriver you used to remove the back plate. *Note* check which way up the battery is fitted BEFORE you remove it. The back plate should just push on and should quietly click when seated correctly.
Some back plates are 'screw on'. You can usually spot these by the dimples or notches on the back plate where the removal tool fits.

Question edited for clarity.Question moved from Lands Phones category.Just take it to a local jewelers shop. They stock a range of bands and will put the new one on free of charge whilst you wait.Bands are universally sized by the distance at the lugs of the watch.https://www.google.com/search?q=men%27s+pulsar+watch+replacement+bands..
For detailed information about the battery used in the specific watch model you mentioned (96E04, black dial round 32 diamond watch), I recommend reaching out to the manufacturer or checking the product documentation that came with the watch. They should be able to provide you with the accurate battery specifications and any other relevant details about the timepiece.
Unfortunately, you don't tell us the make of watch or where you live? Without that information it is all guesswork.
You local jeweler store will have a contact for basic watch repairs, and they will change batteries whilst you wait.
For high end quality watches, you send them to an authorized service centre. My Seiko goes back to the UK for service
