I fixed many of the Eppendorf 5702R with Error 16. It is caused by failure in the main frequency converter PCB. In every case, the failing component was different from the other. You will have to test it and replace few compartments. In simple, Error 16 means failure in communication between the control and frequency converter PCB's.
