Check the brush holders and make sure the brush can travel freely all the way down to the commutator. Look down the brush tube with a light and turn the blade to rotate the armature - look for missing/burnt segments on the commutator. Also, this has a soft-start module that can go bad - if the brushes and armature are good, switch rings out, and all connections are tight, I would lean toward the module.

You will need a multimeter to check the switch and cabling to the socket, and also check if the new bulb is good. REPLACING THE BULB 1. Use only a 10 watt maximum, candelabra base bulb. Turn the light switch off and unplug the saw. 2. Remove old bulb. On the underside of the tool, on the same side as the trigger, there is a large button nearest the blade. I think it is yellow on that model. This will be a 'Push and hold' trigger to release the blade.

As it is an older motor, it probably has brushes but in normal use, they are likely to last many years.

Water in the electrics somewhere causing a dead short. Check the switch contacts. the motor and wiring.

WD40 is as good as anything, 'Plugas' is better. You can even use diesel fuel.
