I had the same problem on my DWC513BLS wine cooler (12 years after your original post). I fixed mine after much troubleshooting. If someone have a similar problem, here are the error codes for that unit :E4 = Defrost sensor defectE3 = Defrost sensor disconnectedE1 = Lower chamber sensor disconnectedE2 = Lower chamber sensor defectE7 = Upper chamber sensor disconnectedE8 =Upper chamber sensor defectTo correct E4, I had to replace the defrost sensor with part #DWC276.

When the room temperature is extremely low a freezer can not disperse its produced heat. Good thing to know anyways.

Pungent smells inside can usually be removed with EITHER Chlorine Bleach OR Hydrogen Peroxide, but NOT together. Or Tilex is great for mold. Did you clean the surfaces thoroughly and glue it down with white or clear silicone, then leave it to cure? also was it an OEM replacement or an Amazon special as the quality is different.

Question edited for clarity. The Defrost drain is blocked. It is normally located on the outside rear.
