Here is a disassembly video. A loose knob problem can be tackled by pulling off the knob, encircling the cracked plastic with a zip tie (after putting Loctite glue in the cracks), pulling the zip tight. Don't lose the sleeve when you pull off the knob. Take the burner off and boil it in a pan of boiling water and soap. Leave to cool, rinse and dry. That should fix it. grease is insulating the grounding for the spark. I have come across it many times. Having said that, how new? Still under warranty? Call them out!
