To try and seal the water leak will possibly render the appliance dangerous. I would speak to Rowenta and ask the question. They may well extend the warranty if you suggest it wasn't used for say a few weeks after purchase etc.

I would try the manufacturers web site.

Re-read the instructions as you may have missed a step setting it up. I've done it setting up power tools. Some steam irons need to be in a specific function setting or a certain heat range for the steam to work. If it still refuses to work take it back to the store you bought it from with the receipt, (If you still have it?), as they usually have electricals covered by a guarantee or a warranty against manufacturing faults.

Unit has a warranty. You have 2 choices keep it or return it for another one. Personally I would return it for a new one.

It would be more cheaper and easier just to buy a new clothing iron than to try and fix the steam release button on your iron.

Question edited for clarity, guessing your iron is a 'Rowenta' and not a 'Rowner'. You need a multimeter to test the element for continuity and the switch / thermostat for correct operation. Question edited for clarity, make and model what it is. Question moved from Laundry Dryers to one of the Braun categories. My first idea was to throw it out and buy a new one until I saw it. This is a substantial piece of appliance. Somewhere you have water mixing with electricity. The most likely part is the heating element or the connection to it. It also have a very substantial circuit board and it has a pump. If the tube to the pump has a leak it may be spraying onto the electrics.
