Not much. You can check to see if your house fuse has blown to your outlet which you plug the device into. You can try cleaning the element with vinegar, allowing it to break off any white residue. You can't reset it if you have an inactive reset light. If it happened to be under warranty, now would be a good time to make use of that. These units seem to require daily cleaning. Whether or not that is a factor in it being inoperative, I can't say. I am including a link to its user manual but a quick look at the troubleshooting in the guide is not particularly helpful in this instance. the residue that you are seeing is Calcium, it is a natural mineral that is found in all water, the easiest way to remove the calcium build up from your humidifier screen is to use (CLR) it is a calcium, lime and rust remover, a simple diluted mixture with water, then soak the screen for about half an hour, rinse the screen then reinstall, a soft water system would help with the calcium build up as well, but tend to be alittle on the spendy side, your could try inline mineral filters that need replacing yearly, I really hope that helped ansewr your question, let us know with some feed back, thanks again for your question, mr.grzz

Malfunctioning, defective or both

The replacement solenoid may have been defective.

The obvious solution is to replace the humidifier that became defective while in storage.

Thermostat problem; Honeywell chronotherm lll ' Low Batt. indicator Keeps blinking after Batteries replace. I chk'd batt. with elect. volt ntr. Was told to pull batt. and change ends with them , letthem stay reversed for 5-10 sec. then put them back in right order,and replace thermostat. No success!

could be 2 reasons. 1. It's the humidity sensor. 2. blocked drain line.
