Hard had

Yes, but it's not an industrial hard hat.. And you would be in breach of all sorts of insurance regs if you wore it on a site.

Petzl have two in their range that are rated for commercial use, The Vertex Best and the Vertex Vent.. See the link below for more info..

It's not worth the risk for a few quid less..

Are Petzl climbing helmets ok to use @ OSHA worksite

Hi,

The Vertex Vent and Vertex Best are the only two of Petzl's range that are rated for commercial use. The rest are sport models..

The link here is for their site..

http://www.petzl.com/en/pro/helmets

Any half decent outdoor/climbing shop will be able to sort you out. Don't be surprised though if shops don't stock the commercial range as therer's not a lot of turnover on it. A good store will be able to get in gear for you to try..
Personally, I have come across a few people (tree surgeons and mountain rescue mostly) who will still choose the sport models for the lightness and less bulk but we always advise them not to.
If you are in the EU then the ratings on Petzl's site will be correct but if you are in the US or AU then it would be worth checking the local regulations before purchase. I don't see it being a problem though, Petzl are globally accepted.
Either way, it could be an insurance nightmare if there is an accident involving someone wearing gear that's not covered..

Hope this helps..

I'm sure that beefs and rodrigo have misunderstood

Straight from the Instruction Manual: This product is a belay device for
the leader or second on a rope.
It has been developed for indoor
wall climbing or for climbing
on well-protected sport routes

standard. It should not be used
for mountaineering or adventure
climbing.

Any modification is a unknown change in the devices individual load bearing rating, and a compromise in the safey of anyone who would be connected to said device at any time after the modification.

Dmm v twin

The manufacture has clearly defined that this device is designed for 8 mm to 10.5 mm ropes. This type of belay device works on friction, so by adding the extra thickness of a 11 mm rope, increases the friction on the device, thus heating it faster, and possibly taking it to premature failure. I have contacted the manufacture directly for their imput on this subject, and will update you once they respond.

Pop up Camper will not raise up when cranked

The cable pulleys will be behind something in each corner of the camper , you will need to remove the wall somehow at the bottom corner , sometimes depending on the model it is easier to remove the outside panel and put the cable back on the pulley then put the outside panel back on , be prepared to damage it though as they can be very stubborn to remove but you can repair it later .

Rock Climbing Harness with Auto Belay, where to hook on?

Easiest is to hook the swivel carabiner to the belay loop.  This is a sewn loop of webbing that connects the leg loops to your waist belt.

I don't want to drop my Grigri

I assume you're using the grigri to belay and are looking to extend the position of the Grigri from your harness to produce a sharper angle with your braking hand.  I suggest using one locking carabiner attached to your harness and another one attached to your harness, then connect the two with a sewn piece of webbing (or a short length of cord).  I would pick a webbing loop no longer than shoulder length, to keep the Grigri from being too far away from you. I would avoid making any changes to the grigri for the purpose you mention.

Washing a Climbing Rope

Step1 Fill a large bucket with warm water. Step2 Add rope wash. (You can purchase it at a BlueWater retailer; follow the link in Resources for a list of locations. If you don't want to travel to the nearest store, you can request that they ship you some.) The instructions on the rope wash package will tell you how much to add, based on how many gallons of water you have in your bucket. Step3 Add your rope to the wash. Step4 Start working the dirt off the rope with your hands. Swish the rope around and flip it over a few times. Spend about 15 minutes doing this. Step5 Allow your rope to sit in the wash for 2 hours. Step6 Squeeze the water out of your rope as you slowly take it out of the bucket. Step7 Lay out your rope in the sunshine to dry.

Sharping Ice Climbing Tools

Step1 Use a 10-inch Mill Bastard file, although you can get by with a shorter version. Put your ice climbing tools in a vise while sharpening to make the process easier. Step2 Stroke the file away from you. If you draw the file back toward you, it becomes dulled and less useful. Make your sharpening strokes smooth and even. Step3 Work on honing the flat surfaces into sharp points. Follow the existing points, and do not try to change their direction. Step4 Sharpen from the front of the tool to the back. This helps to maintain the points. Step5 Buy replacement points for your crampons. Filing eventually will wear down your ice climbing gear. Replacing the points will ensure you'll be able to dig into the ice and rock surfaces.
