How do I properly punch a punching bag? Is there a technique to it or I do I just start punching away?
Before
you go "punching away" make sure to wear the right protective gear (gloves,
wrist wraps) to insure you do not get injured.
To begin using a punching bag, aim for the middle of the bag (generally
a softer area) and hit for three minutes.
Then rest for a few minutes.
Repeat this on and off procedure until you feel that a good amount of
stress has left your body. At this point
it would be a good idea to take a few deep breathes and drink some water.

How can hitting a punching bag be both a emblematic and physical expression of stress?
Physically,
hitting a punching bag helps to relieve tension from within your body. Emblematically, you may picture the punching
bag as a representative of your stress.
If you allow yourself to imagine a troubling situation/person in your
life and use the punching bag as an outlet, you can allow yourself to express
and relieve your anger in a healthier way.

Boxing gear beginners need to buy
Learning how to box is very exciting. The different punches, ways to defend, and how to move in the ring are things every aspiring boxer needs to master. But before going to that first boxing session, you will need quality equipment that will maximize your ability to succeed and also protect you for injuries. First equipment you need are boxing gloves! Boxing gloves are the main equipment used by boxers in order to fight. These gloves come in different sizes and weights and are made from different materials (leather, plastic, vinyl). It is recommended that beginners buy heavy gloves (14 oz or 16oz) to ensure maximum protection for the hands. Leather gloves will last youthe longest, but the material is not really important for beginners. Second thing you need is hand wraps, which will protect your hands and wrists from injuries. Make sure to have your hands properly wrapped before every boxingsession. Everlast makes high quality hand wraps for about $5. Third thing you need are boxing shoes. Boxing shoes are very light and protect the boxer's ankle from injuries. Last thing you need (for sparring) is a mouth piece, which will protect your teeth from punches.
Benefits of boxing shoes
Just like basketball, soccer, and other sports, boxers have their own shoes as well.Boxing shoes' main benefit is that they're light. So light, that you barley even feel them! The reason why boxing shoes are light is so the boxer can move quicker. Boxing shoes come in to two types: high-top and low-top, each having their own benefits. High-top boxing shoes provide great protection for the ankle and lower shins. Low top boxing shoes enable the boxer to have greater mobility. Another benefit of boxing shoes is that they have permeability in order to keep the boxer's feet cool and dry. In addition, boxing shoes have non-slip rubber, which lets the boxer pivot without getting stuck to the mat. Finding boxing shoes at local stores is not always easy, so if you're having hard time, you can go online and purchase them at websites like titleboxing.com andringside.com.
How to keep your boxing hand wraps in a good condition
Hand wraps are to be worn at every time you box. Whether you're going to do a bag session or for an official fight, hand wraps are a must! Once you end boxing training/fight, your hand wraps will be pretty smelly and wet from the sweat. To keep them in good condition, you must do the following: 1. Hang your hand wraps somewhere in the house after every boxing session so they can dry up. 2.Every once in a while, put them in the washing machine to get rid of the bad smell. When doing so, make sure they washed alone because they tend to bleed. If you're going to mix your hand wraps with your other laundry, it is advised to put them in a small laundry bag. 3. Do not put them in a dryer because it will make them shrink! 4. Follow the cleaning directions of the manufacturer. It will tell you exactly what you can and cannot do. 5. In general, you should fold your hand wraps after having session in order to maintain their form.
How to pick the right size boxing gloves
Boxing gloves are without a doubt the most important piece of equipment in the sport of boxing. It is vital to choose the right boxing glove for you before beginning your boxing session. Generally, boxing gloves come in three s (small, medium, and large). When choosing the glove, you need to choose based on the of your hands, rather than on your body weight. In addition, you should buy gloves that feel a little tight because they tend to stretch. After a short time using them, they will stretch and will fit you perfectly. Worst thing you can do is buy loose gloves, as they will increase the risk of injuring your hand and wrist because the glove moves out of place. Another thing you should do is before buying a new glove, make sure you have your wrist wraps on and only then try on the new gloves. Last thing you should do is buy the heaviest glove possible because they will offer your wrist with more protection than lighter gloves.
