I've had the same problem. Did you find a replacement!

Unplug the unit. You need to clean the Ionizer plate periodically. Just run it under water and use a clean sponge if you have to. Let the plate dry completely before reinserting it and make sure you put it in the same way it came out. It's marked with arrows on the side that faces the front. The needle itself should be fine without cleaning but if it has some build up on it GENTLY wipe it off with a dry rag. Wipe towards the tip. As far as the filters go. I haven't had to clean mine. As strange as it seems I get more dust on the front of the machine and the fan than the filters themselves. Source: I own one of these in black.
