Wired up this fan - blue and black together to the

You really should have an electrician look at it however make sure the lamps are not installed when you are connecting the lamp sockets and also check the voltage across the two leads you are connecting the lights to. Should only be 120 volts. There could be another issue that you are over-looking and that is why I think you should have a licensed pro come and take a look.

New Broan fan rattles

I would take it back for exchange... ($159... is high end pricy... Amazon = $168 (worse)). Old ... tired fans can dry out... gather dust. Their life can be significantly extended with fresh lube... As for me... I've learned to just find & buy a NEW MOTOR. But a new FAN... Outrageous! Take it back... Broan-NuTone Nutone Is a QUALITY FAN... Expect quality.

Is there a quieter, alternative motor that can be installed in a NuTone 763RLN bathroom fan?

I just installed one of these; the directions were not really helpful, and I'm fairly handy doing these things. Anyway, the 'specs' say this is 2 sones, and mine is pretty quiet. I did have to tighten the acorn nut that is under the light bulb, that holds the light fixture to the rest of the unit pretty tight. My noise was coming from vibration, not the fan 'noise'.

Bathroom exhaust fan 16 years old and noisy. How to fix?

One drop of 30 wt oil at each bearing will quiet the thing for a while, but you will eventually want to replace it. Also consider the whole fan is about the same cost as the motor, and easier to find.
