I just fixed it now .. when the cartridge is inside and full turn the whole bas upside-down for less than a sec .. ( while the power plug is disconnected ).. then try plugging and cleaning again

You will need to remove the two round screw covers on the bottom by prying them out. Remove the pivoting head by removing two tiny screws. It is hard to say. If the device has a fuse fitted inside then it may only be that needing replacement. If the motor or other circuitry is burned up, then just buy a replacement unit.

The problem you've stated about your Braun model 8585 is related to old batteries.
