Do you mean unwind the coil? usually the wires are sealed on coils and then coated to prevent short circuit.

sometimes the wire that goes into the coil causes this problem. wiggle it gently to see if it goes off.

The battery terminals may be tarnished and not making proper contact.You can clean them with fine sandpaper or toothpaste on a tissue. Its possible that the contacts in the switch may not be making proper contact or if the battery terminals are soldered to the PCB the joints may be bad.
