Me again booo - Bodum electric espresso maker
Hello again Cheryl
Yes I remember the question and unfortunately the answer is the same, the machine is faulty and need returning under warranty. The only thing you can do is a power reset, disconnect the power for 15 minutes. The other thing you might consider is keeping a Bodum Caf? Presse in the cupboard, because all this type of machine will fail regularly.
The posting place is perfect btw.

I am the second one of these since 2005. They are 100% reliable until the element fails. The one I have now is 2 year old which means the last one lasted 16 years. Descale every 6 months, the filters are $2.30 for 200 and 8 o'clock coffee is $18 a pack, ground in store.

Only the side elements are working on the toaster. The middle elements which would toast one side of a slice of bread are not working. Is it possible to repair/replace the middle elements?
Maybe. Unplug the toaster and remove the bottom plate as you would for cleaning. look for the wires connected to the middle elements and see if one has become disconnected or broken. If one or more of the connections to the middle element is a quick disconnect type (click link for a picture),
https://s16-us2.ixquick.com/cgi-bin/serveimage?url=http%3A%2F%2Fts4.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DJN.EnzjOARZwnQZZjF7oGU2Dw%26pid%3D15.1%26f%3D1&sp=5dc5e8fde9f2f3462b6483c20bb42f01 then inspect it for overheating, oxidation or corrosion. You may be able to clean it up with a Scotch-brite metal polishing pad.
On my toaster, the connections to the heater elements are metal strips riveted to tabs from the element assemblies. One strip is riveted to the power neutral; the other has a quick disconnect tab for a wire from the thermostat. A loose or broken rivet could be the problem, but do not use an aluminum pop rivet to repair it. It can't take the heat, even if you could find one small enough.
I've seen toaster heater elements evaporate over the years - they get a hot spot, which burns off metal, making it thinner and hotter until finally there's nothing left there. At that point the element is gone. I suppose if you could find nichrome ribbon wire of the same width and thickness as the original, you could rebuild the heating element plate, but it would be a delicate task because the mica insulating material is fragile. It's probably more practical to scavenge a working heater assembly from another toaster of similar design, if the electrical connections are serviceable with the tools you have.
Unless this is a very fancy unit, it's probably cheaper and easier to scrap it out and replace the whole thing.

BodumCongratulations! You are the proud owner of a BISTRO pour over coffee machine fromBODUM®. Read through these instructions carefully before you use the
My bodum burr grinder stopped while grinding beans. It will not run at all.
If all the above except some lame answer about using "rice" doesn't solve your problem, then the THERMAL FUSE will have to be replaced, and it is very easy and cheap to do so, especially if you do it yourself. A THERMAL FUSE will shut down everything so that if for any reason the machine overheats, it won't burn up the motor.
How to fix a bodum bistro electric coffee grinder that doesn't grind well
This can be caused by several things;
If it used to be good but is now faulty it is most likely that it just needs cleaning. If you are using beans that are 'oily' they can clog the grinder, you should anyway disassemble it and clean every year. Do not use soap and water, just brush it with a stiff brush (e.g. the stiffest type of toothbrush) and a vacuum cleaner.
There is also a possibility that something has got into the grinder along with the coffee beans that has damaged the grinding wheels; in that case you need to replace the wheels.
How do I fill with pepper
On most pepper mills, some part of the upper half usually unscrews, and the 'top' and 'bottom' can be separated. The bottom part will have a 'reservoir' in which the peppercorns should be placed, to eventually be ground.

Control lever will not stay down
Unless you have power switch on to the toaster, the level will not stay down. Ensure you have main power available!
If the unit is powered, check that the 'toast darkeness' level is set accordingly - it is this 'thermostat' that determines when to eject the toast: if you checked that you have power and that the darkness level is not set to zero and it still does not work, then it is time to get a new toaster! If not under warranty, it is probably not worth trying to get it repaired.
Green light goes ON but nothing happens
I have the same problem after using it only twice...the store won't take it back as they no longer carry them, and there is no place local to repair them...and I can find nothing online to fix it. it was too expensive of a machine to have this kind of problem that is not easily repairable.
Won't turn on :(
It sounds like you know nothing about elecrical stuff so safety first, take it to a repair shop. If you have no experience with this sort work you can easily kill yourself or burn your house down; poor electrical work causes many house fires, so take it to the repair shop
Ring the supplier it may be a common problem or an easy fix. If no luck there take it to a repairman, preferably at a Bodum Bistro repair shop.
If the switch is unavailable, they may be able remove it and see if another switch can be substituted or added.
The worst case would be short switch out and the grinder will be on all the time now and you can turn it on and off at the wall socket or fit an in line switch to the power cord.
Ask for an estimate as it may be cheaper or at least more practical to replace it.
If you try to do it yourself you may electrocute yourself or burn your house down, so do some overtime and use the money to pay for an expert repairer or a new one.
