As you can see from this photo, the B&D Model CM2020B digital display screen is supposed to light up when the coffee maker is plugged into a working electric plug. You couldn't control/operate the machine if it did not. The machine is useless without it. Bring it back to the seller.

When you say a power reset button, do you mean the power button you turn on to power it up or a fuse? I doubt any coffee maker has a fuse any longer. Afraid you may lose this battle. Peeling means you let liquid drip onto the heating element surface without wiping it up. It then boils or burns on the heating element.
