I need a wiring harness for my 1974 Benelli Quattro 500
Try some of the Benelli owners websites as someone might have one or there could be one being sold for spares. Personally I would consider getting a one made as new. There are companies out there that can build exact copies if they have the old one as a template.

Tickover to high
Idle should be about 1000 to 1100. There is a black, knurled knob close to the carb or throttle body where you can turn the idle speed down.
I got fire fuel and good compression but wont start
The spark should be nice blue, if it is orangey red there is a ignition circuit problem.if that's ok then it has to be timing of spark or valves. In extreme circumstances the exhaust could be blocked or even too clear, back pressure to high or too low can cause poor starting.
Bike cutting out when take off stand
The bike should cut out when you put it on the stand unless its in neutral, safety mechanism. In your case if its in N maybe a short or wiring is crossed.

Hard to put into neutral when running , any clues
Bike usually show the symptom of not being able to find neutral when the clutch is either not adjusted correctly or the clutch pack is warped. Make sure your clutch lever doesn't have excessive free play. If you pull the cable out of the housing with a little pressure ( but not pulling it out all the way ) you shouldn't have more than the thickness of a quarter between the cable ferrule and the bracket. My 2009 TNT cafe 1130 has had 2 new starter motors
This simptom is for low battery voltage. I know that you changed the battery but check the voltage from it. If the voltage is somewhere 12.5 - 12.8 V the battery is ok. If not the battery is discharged. Also the amperage is important. If you new battery has less Amps that the producer recommended the bike won't start. I guess for you a battery with minimum 10-12Amps is ok. If the battery seems ok than check also the cables if they are attached properly to the battery. Also you could remove them and clean the contact zone. As a solution for the moment to start the bike is to "donate" some power from a car with some proper cables. Beware at polarity. + with +, - with - . If you put + with - is not good. If the bike's battery is pretty dead than you will need to keep the "donor" car started a few minutes with the cables connected to the car and bike in the same time to allow to the drained battery to charge a little. Please post the result.

have you ever started the bike before? do you know what it sounds like when it turns over, last resort if someone else doesn't answer, find a 6v bat that fits in the housing, as long as your not cranking for more than a couple of seconds you'll be fine and it will give you an idea of whether or not the bat you got is in the range of amps required by how fast it is spinning the bike over. but remember no more than a couple of seconds unless it sounds like its turning over at a normal rate. best I can give you sorry.
