Unless you are a qualified audio service technician, you should refer repair of this unit to an authorized Behringer service depot. The capacitors you refer to can store lethal amounts of electrical charge. Also, Behringer service manuals and schematics are notoriously difficult to get.

Want to connect more speakers
Use splitter cables to double your outputs. The signal strength will be half to each speaker per channel. i.e. if each channel has an output of 100w then splitter cables will give you 4 x 50w to connect up. Aim to use speakers rated below the max output rating of your amp, so in this example 4 x 40w speakers would be safer (won't blow your amp) than 4 x 60w speakers

Output distortion from bass amp
The amp is clipping the signal. This could be from the input being too high. The impedance being too low or the finals are damaged.

Sound through equalizer but no adjustment ability.
Without knowing the make of the equalizer I can't say if it can have any effect on the sound. I always thought that digital sound through the optical ports could not be controlled by an equaliser. Since it would interfere with signals such as Dolby Digital.
If that is the case then like you say it will pass the sound unaffected to the amp.
